Have you ever tasted a cloud? It's the most wonderous expirience imaginable. Exiting the airplane and falling completely free yet completely in control. The wind rushing by, the sensation of absolute freedom, the beauty of it all.

Looking down, you can see the clouds moving up at you getting ever closer. If the sun is just right, you can see a rainbow reflecting off of the mist of the cloud. Have you ever seen a rainbow from above? It forms a complete circle, you can see the shadow of your body projected onto the cloud and you can fly right through the center of the rainbow.

As you hit the cloud, it's slightly claustrophobic because the world is gone, there is nothing but grey mist. Sound seems to be muffled, your entire existence is grey and formless. The air is damp and chilled and you can taste the moisture and the excitement of the ozone.

It lasts for only a brief second or two and then you are out, out into the sunlight and the colors and the expansive view. Looking up you watch the cloud receed from you, completly oblivious and undisturbed at you intrusion.

For a brief, very brief moment, it was a perfect day today. I went outside to my car to go to lunch (workout) and it was just beautiful! I didn't even notice the cold. The sun was shining, the sky was a bright, vivid, perfect blue, large banks of thick clouds were sporadically drifting through at about 1500'. Clouds so thick and well-defined that they looked solid and appeared to defy the laws of gravity floating by. Something that large and dense should not be peacefully drifting across the sky. The wind was blocked by the building. It was gorgeous, I stood in the parking lot wistfully staring upward. I was so geeked to go jumping.

Wow, loved reading your journal entry. I've always wanted to try that.

A feeling I am well accustomed to...

Try standing on the ramp of a 130 at 28,000 ft, with full O2 connections, receiving all your jump commands in total sign language, while staring at the curvature of the earth... Holy bajesus, heart is pounding like a mofo, watching your altimeter pass zero twice, is not a comfy feeling either....

Just thought I'd say hi! Things are going well. And I love the taste of a good cloud every now and then, as long as they're not at pull altitude.... wink

Cheers and thanks for the email.
