I have tried very hard to move to self-adhesive. Stamps, envelopes, whatever. Think about it, you're LICKING a strange object. You don't know how it was made, you don't know who's "handled" it in it's long journey to your tongue. I'd put money on the fact that they're not manufactured to food grade standards and that more than likely that envelope you just slobbered all over was made in some poor third world country with no hygiene standards by an uneducated worker making .30 cents a day who just got back from their bathroom break.

Think about it...

Damn, now that I've thought about it, who made my new toothbrush?

I remember reading something somewhere about the amount of cockroach body pieces/mouse feces/other grossness that was found on an envelope or stamp adhesive, and almost throwing up... I have been a self-stick buyer ever since!

*Edited to say* Also, for the stuff that you can't get self-stick, all office stores have those nifty little bottles with sponges on the end - fill 'er up with water, and rub on adhesive = no licking disgusting filth! I think they cost about $2.00... worthwhile investment!
