The stitches in the roof of my mouth really bugged me last time. I couldn't stop playing with the knot by using my tongue. The thing about it is the pain is not severe. It's more like a dull throbbing (due to the pulse). The downtime is because of the extra effort the body makes to heal the incisions. Because we use our mouths so much the tissue is somewhat aggravated.
All I can say is that this surgery is quite minimal & I'd hate to see what kind of toll it would take on me if I had to have more invasive surgery!
