I just want to offer my congratulations to SG Aiki for having a song by her musical alter-ego, Miss Violetta Beauregard, played today on Brian Turner's show on WFMU (for the unenlightened, that would be the best DJ on the best radio station on Earth).
So, I click over to this site, and on top of the events calendar, on the front page, is a show that my band is playing.
Of course, there are undoubtedly tens of thousands of bands whose shows have been listed on SG's front page (especially as it seems a bit random which events get listed there, and they change with every refresh), but still,...

A look at the Republican party's increasingly fascist leanings in, of all places, American Conservative magazine:
The blogger Digby suggests that the United States' use of torture and disregard for due process in its handling of suspected terrorists could easily seep into mainstream law enforcement.
Some interesting listens:

It still really amazes me how indie fashion has percolated up into the mainstream. It seems like it was just recently that I was getting called "That 70s Show Guy" by jocks for having a shag haircut, and wearing thrift-store clothes. And now... boom, out of nowhere, every male under the age of 25 or so - including jocks - is rocking a shag haircut,...

Happy Birthday
Another good show tonight, at the Knitting Factory Tap Bar: Measels Mumps Rubella, El Guapo, 1776 (featuring the one and only person I knew in college who lives in New York, Bill (formerly of Federation X, by the way)), and some other band, whose name I've forgotten. Starts at 8:30, costs seven bucks.
It's going to snow tonight but don't be a

If any New Yorkers are paying attention, there are three great shows this weekend.

3) !!! at the Motherfucker party, Sunday at 11pm.

Wow. I never noticed these comments before. You can tell I'm really adept at this interweb thing. To respond:
DebraJean - I assume you're asking why I don't like the second half of Journey to the End of the Night. The answer is, I think it gets boring once he settles down and starts up his medical practice. I appreciate his observations on War, Colonial Africa, and America, but not on how much his poor patients irritate him. Also, I'd like to add that in this, the era of the shaved pussy, your unruly bush is totally punk rock.
black_tar_heroin - Depends on what x is.
Cherie and Seth - Thanks. Being 27 now, I'm glad I'm not a rock star, as if that were the case I'd be obligated to die.
