The trip to San Antonio went well. I usually fly there, but this time one of my friends was driving down for a wedding so I hitched a ride with him. It was a long drive thanks to all the traffic, especially in Austin. On the way down we passed a lot of farmland and I decided to draw an old farmer sitting on his...

A new profile picture seemed like a good idea for about a day. Now I'm back to the old one.

I have developed a Love/Hate relationship with the gym. I'm really out of shape and my clothes don;t fit like they used to, so I decided to go since it's free and across the street. Now, the good and the bad.

Hate:
I feel like I'm about to die everytime I go

I'm running to nowhere when I could be comfortably watching TV

Love:
It'll...

Ive got a full weekend of cleaning, organizing and filing ahead of me. I dont really feel like doing any of this but its getting out of hand right now so I guess I have to. Although, now would be a really good time for my Suicide girls DVD to show up so I could take a break and watch some hot SG goodness. Im...

I'm going to see System of a Down and the Mars volta this thursday and going back to San Antonio to visit on Friday. I'm pretty excited about both of these things.

On the dating front, nothing is happening. The chicks I dig are unavailable and I can't relate to 3/4 of the rest of the people out there. It's hard to meet people when...

yeah, boxxtech is great. it's between them and alienware for the new tower. that or there's a local company that customizes off the shelf ibm z pro's into a really compelling package. anyone who thinks pc's are cheaper than macs should look past the bottom rung playtoys and into the workstation arena. ouch. what just rammed up my ass?

i'm running 2 dual G5s (one 3d/compositing, one editing), a G4 (leftover from my old gear, acts as fileserver and photoshop station if other towers are busy) and the mid-level pc (also a leftover from my old setup). totally agree on the laptop. mine's a 17" powerbook that's a mirror of the compositing station. all tucked away in my basement. i have regular people i bring in for bigger jobs, and it can get a little cozy with 2 more people down here. wink

totally agree. lightwave on mac completely sucks. won't go near it. honestly, the best 3D tool i've come across for everyday work and assimilation with AE is C4D. I love it. I use Maya for really critical or detailed stuff, but my daily tool is C4D. plus in relative terms its fairly cheap. haven't used xsi, but it seems to be well regarded by it's users. maybe i'll see if there's a demo and give it a try. can't wait to get my hands on 3DS Max, though. They were just introducing it when i was leaving CTV, so i barely had a taste.

thyrist:
Sorry about the TOOL scare! I will be shooting System of a Down tomorrow. So I'll wave blindly into the stands from the stage! And on the dating front I feel ya. I get excited about the ones that go nowhere and bored with the ones that could be future relationship material.

I hope all the London SGers are alright. This is some really tragic news.

On a lighter note, I just watched Superman II for the first time in probably fifteen years and it occurs to me that some things are better left to nostalgia. Now I'll always remember the movie as being kinda cheesy.

I thought war of the worlds was going to be total crap. I have to admit though, there's something strangely satisfying about seeing giant alien war machines shooting people with death rays.
