I don't normally play around too much with "special effects" in either Lightroom or Photoshop when I snap an image. I'm not saying that everything that comes out of my camera is presented to viewers as it appeared when it came out of the camera; there may be color corrections needed, or perhaps a minor crop improves the image over what happened when I framed it "live." But for the most part, not a lot of tweaking.

Yesterday, I started playing around with a new photo-manipulation program that came with the tablet I bought for my Mac. The program is called Color Efex Pro 4. I still don't know enough about it to really explain it to anyone, except that it appears to have a lot of what I'd call "filters," similar to what Photoshop has built-in. From what I can see, the program operates "semi standalone," in that I can manipulate images after launching from either Lightroom or Photoshop. From there, I can apply various effects (no doubt the name "Efex" is intended as a homophone) to the out-of-camera image to achieve a different interpretation.

So, without further ado -- or manipulation -- I give you another image of Crystal.
