I just watched an Osprey harvest nesting material from a stand of trees across the street from me for about half an hour. Unfortunately, he was too quick for my camera skills, but what a treat to see! That dude could break off some big branches. shocked

To partially sum up the past 36 hours:

- 14 hours of driving
- 4 hours of sleep (non-consecutive)
- 2 hours staring up at a clear night sky
- 1 hour walking along a river bed
- 45 minutes hiking up a snowfield
- 5 minutes of snowboarding.

It was still completely worth it biggrin

Photos may get posted later, after I get a little...

My snowboard has been watching me, taunting me from the dark corner it inhabits during its long rests. It's eyes staring blankly, awaiting its next resurrection to the mountain.

This is really just to say, time for a road trip. smile
samling:
i'm so tempted to sneak into your house when you're away and glue googley eyes(like cookie monster's) onto your snowboard now...

good thing i dunno where you live tongue
electric:

On Sunday, I drove my little SUV over to an air conditioned theater to watch a movie about global warming. As if these 90+ degree temperatures in Seattle aren't evidence enough...

Also, as if you didn't already know, job interviews and working late are both unhappy things, particularly when they occur on the same day and on multiple sequential days.

On the brighter side, the...

*THWACK!*

(a) very shortly after stepping on the wrong end of a rake.
(b) sensation your hand delivers to your brain due to it's own stupidity.
(c) boffers.
(d) snowboarding a wee bit too close to that tree.
(e) doors that unexpectedly move,
(f) walls that don't.
throttlebitch:
I'll take 'a' in rare occurrences, 'b' occurs more frequently and 'f' is generally intentional.

Picked up my 5-year award from HR yesterday. It's a little disk-shaped acrylic thing with my name engraved on it... twice. It seems that even after more than 5 years there, they still can't get my name right. I also know that I'm not unique in this regard. One girl mentioned to me that it took her three tries before they managed to get her's...

Sunday night, had dinner with friends at Mulleady's Pub a couple blocks from me. We sat outside and enjoyed a nice breeze and good food and drinks. After that, we went over to the interbay golf course and hit some balls at the driving range. I don't remember the last time I did that, but there's something to be said for wacking the crap out...

I'm in a music discovery phase at the moment. I love Pandora. Seriously, check it out. It's introduced me to at least a dozen new artists that are basically all I listen to now.

My newest finds:
Theatre of Tragedy
Sirenia
Inkubus Sukkubus

Also, eMusic rocks if they have stuff you like. 40 tracks for $10 is a lot cheaper than CDs or iTunes,...

First day back at work after 2 weeks wasn't quite what I'd hoped. The job I had been doing for the past six months was effectively eliminated. I got assigned to another project that looks like it will be a combination of busywork, micro-management, and a serious test of patience due to a significant language and time zone barrier. Separately, I got asked by another...

haha...so when do you get your light saber?

either one of those choices don't sound fantastic. what'd you do most of your vacation?

i can't be in a house without animals. and i love, love my boys. especially the orange kitty. he's the oldest, and is hands down the best animal i've ever owned.

That's fucked. Product Management is a revolving door... hope it's not working for Rajesh.

I don't need to tell you to be wary.
