How about breathing clean air?

The topic of Global Warming has for a while now held religious zealot status, on both ends of the spectrum. People still seem to want to argue about whether humans are the cause of it, and how big of an impact we are actually having. Whatever, I don't care. It's irrelevant to debate that for the most part. It seems to me there is an aspect to this issue that is more direct and immediate than longer term climate alterations, but that does not seem to garner the same press attention.

When I stand at a busy intersection during rush hour waiting for my bus, the air is not very pleasant to breath, and a lot of days, that's putting it mildly. Most of the causes of climate change are the same pollutants that are bad for human health, something which seems to get far less attention. My main motivator for wanting to own an electric car is so I can take a deep breath without coughing, and smell the cherry blossoms instead of the tailpipe exhaust. It seems like this daily impact of these pollutants has become lost on the larger frenzy. I think that's unfortunate. I would hope that clean, fresh air is something everyone can agree is desirable.

I don't want to have to buy my water in bottles, and I don't want to have to breath my air through a filter, either. THAT is why I eat organic foods, use public transit for my commute, and generally try to have a low environmental impact. Call me selfish, but it just seems smart.
