There's really no need to read the story after a headline like that.
I imagine if the Hitchhiker's Guide has anything to say about rivers, it would be the following: Most rivers are tolerably friendly when you respect them, but they *really* hate being pissed in, and will frequently find subtle but potentially deadly means of retaliation. Be kind to your river, and water a tree instead.
