OK, so I'm in Atlanta, and this whole National Cable show is nuts. To start with, it's being held in this convention center that's easily 4 city blocks in length, and the show runs the whole length, 4 floors, plus part of the adjacent building. My feet hurt already after only the first day.

Second, all the major networks like Turner, FOX, NBC, etc, have these massive pavilion areas that are the size of a large house. Mansion, really. You could measure them in acres. A couple networks have decked-out semi trailers augmenting the rest of their pavilion offerings. I've seen litterally hundreds of flat screen TVs all over the place. Probably a couple thousand.

Third, and this is something I found particularly amusing, are the channels like Hustler and Playboy that have their stars signing autographs. The amusing part was the lines. I was slightly tempted to go to the party Playboy is hosting tonight, but alas, work, and the fact that I'm jet lagged by 3 hours squashed those hopes. FOX incidentally seemed to garner the longest line, but they only pulled that off by handing out $50 Ogio gym bags with the FOX News logo. I chose not to acquire one, though I was tempted to solely on the basis of knowing that it would cost FOX $50 just to give me the bag. I was bummed to learn later on, however, that they were handing out skate board decks signed by Danny Way. I would have really liked one of those.

Lots of other stupid chotchkeys of course, which I'm happy to say I avoided collecting too many of. I did however acquire a little stuffed Scooby-Do that I'll find a nice home for in my office, and a number of DVDs that I'll probably never watch. Most of the networks and studios are handing DVDs out like candy. Except of course for Playboy, Penthouse, and Hustler... figures.

Apparently Atlanta heard this term "Vegetarian" and summarily rejected it. I couldn't even get a vegi burrito at a mexican place.

One more full day of NCTA festivities, then flying home to Seattle on Wednesday.

Geckogirl could've helped you out with some vegetarian recommendations for Atlanta. Too late now, I guess.
