*THWACK!*

(a) very shortly after stepping on the wrong end of a rake.
(b) sensation your hand delivers to your brain due to it's own stupidity.
(c) boffers.
(d) snowboarding a wee bit too close to that tree.
(e) doors that unexpectedly move,
(f) walls that don't.
throttlebitch:
I'll take 'a' in rare occurrences, 'b' occurs more frequently and 'f' is generally intentional.

Picked up my 5-year award from HR yesterday. It's a little disk-shaped acrylic thing with my name engraved on it... twice. It seems that even after more than 5 years there, they still can't get my name right. I also know that I'm not unique in this regard. One girl mentioned to me that it took her three tries before they managed to get her's...

Sunday night, had dinner with friends at Mulleady's Pub a couple blocks from me. We sat outside and enjoyed a nice breeze and good food and drinks. After that, we went over to the interbay golf course and hit some balls at the driving range. I don't remember the last time I did that, but there's something to be said for wacking the crap out...

I'm in a music discovery phase at the moment. I love Pandora. Seriously, check it out. It's introduced me to at least a dozen new artists that are basically all I listen to now.

My newest finds:
Theatre of Tragedy
Sirenia
Inkubus Sukkubus

Also, eMusic rocks if they have stuff you like. 40 tracks for $10 is a lot cheaper than CDs or iTunes,...

First day back at work after 2 weeks wasn't quite what I'd hoped. The job I had been doing for the past six months was effectively eliminated. I got assigned to another project that looks like it will be a combination of busywork, micro-management, and a serious test of patience due to a significant language and time zone barrier. Separately, I got asked by another...

That's fucked. Product Management is a revolving door... hope it's not working for Rajesh.

I don't need to tell you to be wary.

Sounds like an excellent trip. I'm a skier personally, but maybe next season we can do a trip locally.
merritt:
I love Hood River.

Favorite news headline for the week:
"Man slips while relieving himself, falls into river, dies"

There's really no need to read the story after a headline like that.

I imagine if the Hitchhiker's Guide has anything to say about rivers, it would be the following: Most rivers are tolerably friendly when you respect them, but they *really* hate being pissed in, and will frequently find...

OK, I'm a geek, and this post proves that definitively.

I have an extra 2.5" hard drive from when I upgraded my Powerbook. I bought a cheap ass case for it that, while functional, came with neither screws, nor screw holes that actually lined up. Basically, it was a cheap piece of crap. I do however have a Belkin USB HUB that's designed to sit...

I went to hopey's 666 party last night and got to meet some of the SG Seattle crew. Good people would be the short summary. samling has the list of partygoers that I won't bother to duplicate, along with a good summary of the first impression I make on most people. Suffice to say, it was nice to meet these folks.

I'll have to wait...

This weekend begins a 2 week vacation. I don't set foot back in the office again until the 19th. I have absolutely no commitments for the next two weeks. I may go so far as to hide the clocks for a while. The alarms have all been disabled already, of course. No work email will be checked, and the cell phone may not get turned...

You should come to hopey's 666 party on Tuesday and you can meet the SG Seattle crew.

It's not far from your pad I imagine. She's just a block north of the Dravus Romio's and the Boxcar. I'll tell Hopey to give you her address.

Oh, and my phone number is 206 227 0291

i envy you sooo much right now. i don't even know what i'd do if i had a few days off from everything, much less two weeks.
