How I became a Crazy Cat Lady

As a journalist, I spend all day writing and the last thing I want when I finish working is to write more ... maybe that's why it took me so many months to make my first post here. But this day finally arrived and as it is the first, let's start with something that accompanies my life since I can remember: “how I became a crazy cat lady”.

When I was born, my mother had 3 cats, an excellent job and we lived in a big apartment with a nice open area. It is near a large park in my city, so many people abandoned animals - mostly cats and dogs - near our home. When my parents divorced (I was 8 years old), my mom rescued a kitty from the streets. And then, others came, and others, and others. Everytime that a new abandoned kitty appeared, our neighbors called my mom and so she was, rescuing another little furry life.
In 2014 my mother passed away and I found myself with 21 snouts to feed. I usually say that it was my cats that strengthened me in such a painful moment because knowing that their little lives depended on me was what encouraged me to get out of bed and live each day.
We think that by rescuing an animal, we are saving its life. In fact, they are saving ours each day.

My cats in general live long lives. Nowadays I say that I am a crazy cat lady in a cat geriatry. I have 8 cats (my brother has 3, and the others have already crossed the rainbow bridge and went to find their old human). Of these 8 cats, 7 of them are between 12 and 14 years old - which means a lot for a cat ... but they are nevertheless less active and playful.
Well… I said that 7 were elderly, right? Many years passed by since no animal was left near my house - thanks God; But last December, I heard distant meows… and that's how I found Higuaín, the newest member of this big feline family.
Although the excess of energy (typical of a kitten) bothered my old gentlemen and ladies at first, it didn't take long for him to adapt and be accepted as one more of this gang.

And so, today I am proudly a crazy cat lady with my 8 furry companions, and I can't imagine my life without them!

Aww, hello kitty 😻 ...sidebar: my Sis has been blessed with taking in a succession of sweet strays that always make their own wonderful feline family. It seems when one passes on another will come meowing at the back porch. Therefore I’m sort of a happy kitty Uncle loving all of them.
