i will never complain about anything ever again. my (ex)-boyfriend has had the absolute worst few months ever. about 6 months ago his dad was diagnosed with stage 3 prostate cancer. he probably has less than 6 months left to live. then yesterday he calls me to say that his brother got in an accident on a pocket bike (i HATE those things, they're so fucking dangerous) & split his skull open ear to ear. he has a 3 year old baby. he had surgery for brain hemmorhaging & he is still alive but barely. and then there's our breakup, which hurts a lot on both ends. i mean, fuck, what else could happen to them? maybe i shouldn't ask that.
i can't help thinking that it is a cruel twist of fate that pedople who are very religious often seem to have their sorrows really piled on. he and his family are religious to varying degrees, and as an atheist i am a little resentful of that. i feel that faith allows people to sidestep issues that they should really be dealing with on a more personal level... anyway, it seems like a very cruel irony that this family who believes god will work everything out has suffered so much this year. do you know what i mean? i can't really explain it but there is just something outrageously vicious about it.
in other news, i had a really great weekend. me and ollie are great partners in crime. maybe i'll tell you about it later.

Eek; that does seem like one trial and tribulation after another. And I thought I've had it bad recently...not! In all seriousness, I think that religion serves little purpose in these circumstances except to provide foundation and faith. Then again, I may be wrong, since I'm not a religious person. But most religions don't believe in an interventionist god anymore. It's more like suffer now, and party on in the sky later! Jeez, does this sound a little caustic and bitter? Hope it gets better for your ex soon.
