The fate of your life, and every life you know, every life you could imagine relies on it. That sounds like a bold statement, but please, do listen...
I am not perfect, I am not always right, I am not saying that everything I say from here on out is exactly how I'm going to feel forever, or even 100% correct for that matter... I am unbiased, but I will do my best to make sure I am right in my thoughts and in my actions... I am not taking sides... All I can do is try. We're all human. We all make mistakes. We're all evil, we're all pure. We're whatever you want to call it. But what makes a person truly divine, is the ability to strive for more, and to constantly get better...
But.... Simply put:
I am going to make the world a better place.
This is my goal in life. I am going to do everything I can. I am a revolutionary. I will bring great change to this world. Or at least, I will try. And afterall, as people, that's the best we can do, is try. Even if I don't succeed, at least I know I tried. But the way things are now, are not the way things are always going to be. The way things are now, are not the way things should be. People aren't awake. People aren't aware. The people as a whole, aren't conscious. It's not right. All the answers are right here in front of us, and we're always too distracted or too scared to pay attention. Slowly but surely, this is changing every day.
(For those of you simply want to skip what all this is about and get right to the point, it's about proposed society where all the evils of the world simply cannot exist because they are all irrelevant. ZeitGeist: Addendum came out, and it's inspired me to finish up some writing I started a while back. http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ )
I am an entertainer. I love bringing smiles to peoples' faces. I love making people happy. It's a quick and easy way to better your immediate surroundings in a positive manner. Through humour, and being a kind person, you can affect a lot of lives on a daily basis. I can tell a quick joke to lighten up a mood, or I can be an ear or mouth of caring should the need for it exist. It may be miniscule in the big picture of things, but damnit, it's something. And in terms of positivity, every little bit counts. If more people thought this way, we wouldn't be living in such a negative world today. This being said, I am going to use my means of communication and expression as a vessel for my dream of making the world a better place. The poetry I write, and the songs I will write, and the actions I persue will be greatly affected by everything you will read, right here... My message will be conveyed through art, and hopefully it will inspire some good in the world, or at least spread awareness, or at least put a smile on someone's face...
Before I begin, it seems that almost every revolutionary in the world is assassinated or overthrown by corrupt secret services and evil goverment factions (if you don't believe me, do some research and look into it. It's a lot less fiction than "conspiracy")... It seems like whenever anyone with a radical voice about opening our minds to who the real fucking enemy is, they are shortly silenced by the powers that be... And it's made to look like an accident. If it happens, I don't want to be remembered for my death. I want to be known for the life I lived. Celebrated. Not mourned.
(Do something creative and wacky with my remains... (Specifically... Please, take my ashes, cremate them, and do that thing they do where they compress the ashes to form a small diamond. Take that diamond, and do that other thing they do with dead people, and launch my remains into space. Let me float around, and maybe I'll collect debris in my infinate space-boredom and become large enough that I can wipe out an entire alien civilization or something, to even out everything I'm trying to accomplish in this lifetime. Hell, if there's no life to wipe out, maybe what remains of my DNA will be strewn about a planet, and perchance an entire planet's life will begin with myself! An entire world brought forth through my DNA! Hahaha!)))
And do note that I'm not a super serious person, and I'm not all business. Having fun, being happy, making other people happy and making jokes as I do is as much as a revolutionary course of action as any. The world needs to be a happier place, so don't take me as a pair of clown shoes, and don't take me as someone who thinks he knows it all. Neither of this is true. I'm somewhere in between. I have as much of a good time as possible, and I try to help others achieve the same mental state as well, but I also try to stay as well informed as possible. So I will make jokes, but I am also dead fucking serious about making the world a better place.
Where everything is a matter of perspetive... Everything is relative... We are all human. We are all born with instinctual gifts. Now would be a good to to repeat that I could be wrong. (If you can prove something to me, I might adopt it as a belief. I am not easily swayed, and I can only believe in what I feel is true. I am open minded and logical. And there's always something to be learned from everything, so it wouldn't hurt to hear more whether I adopt other beliefs or not!) Creationism might be way to go for some of you, but in this moment of time, it sounds pretty ridiculous... So we'll stick to the Theory of Evolution... If you don't agree with it, then don't do what you'd normally do and discredit everything I say from here forth as conflicting beliefs. An open mind knows no conflicting beliefs. Consider everything with all your heart, and if it's not for you, then by all means pass on adopting it as new knowledge from you. Just take into mind that all things, all different beliefs and ideas have at least something to be taken from them. All experiences in life, both positive and negative, have things you can learn from and take with you. Either to make sure the happiness from the positive aspects repeats itself in your life, or to prevent the unhappiness that was caused by the negative events or situations you've encountered. Either way, you must make sure to take in experience. If you avoid experience, you are already dead, just yet to be buried. So please, don't turn away. Please listen, please read, and come to your own conclusions after. Regardless of traditions and what your pre-conceived identities may have you convinced the following is not true... Just try to be open minded.
Through many, uncountable generations of trial and tribulation, through error and fault, through pain and suffering... Us humans have adapted pretty nicely. Through Evolution, we are given some beautiful gifts to use in this life. Memory, and our emotional guidance system. These are the tools that have allowed us to become the most powerful and intelligent beings on this planet (that we know of). You are born with pain receptors.
You touch fire, it hurts, you remember not to do it again.
You touch sharp edge, it hurts, you remember not to do it again.
You eat bad meat, you get sick, you remember not to do it again.
Each and everytime. "Action - Reaction - Emotional Consequence - Memory", in that order. I can go on and on and on, but memory is a beautiful thing that we take for granted. It's something our previous generations have passed down to us for a reason. It's why a full tummy feels good. It's why belonging to something feels good. It's why sex feels so damn good. It's Mother Nature's way of saying "This is what you need to do in order to continue as a species".
Our feelings are no different. We have feelings we enjoy, and feelings we do not enjoy. Sadness, hate, jealousy, shame, self-pity... We all know too well that these things do not feel very good. A sense of accomplishment, a sense of peace, joy, friendship, love, satisfaction - all these things feel good. Again, if it feels good, that's Mother Nature's way of saying you're on the right track. If it hurts... Well, I'm sure you can figure this out.
One of the most important things I've learned in this life, is that there is more to life than self-pity and superiority. Every single fucking day I see people in a competition with one another. It seems like almost everyone wants the most attention, the most sympathy, or the most control, the most notoriety, the most "wealth", and the most power. Why is this? This is an outrage! These are not things we are born with! Wealth is of the mind, not of the pocket.
I know people who fake illness for attention. I know people who create problems where there are none because their lives are so peaceful, they need conflict somewhere. I know people who have the world given to them - it's at their feet but their nose is stuck in the air, so the don't see it! I know people who sit around and converse... then debate... then argue... and then fight about who has it worse off. This is disgusting. Why do people take life for granted like this? Human beings need challenge, yes. But don't simply manifest conflict in your lives because you have nothing better to do. Apply your knowledges, apply your passions! Apply yourself to something more! Instead of figuring out how the hell you're going afford the new magic pill to get as skinny as such-and-such on TV, do something more important and selfless! Such as... Discovering ways to make people feel better and live healthier lifestyles without negative influence and bullshit expectations as generated from something as fucking brainless as the TV.
(A bit of a silly example: Emo kids are going to be extinct in a matter of time. It's evolution of the species. Those who do not adapt, simply die off. People who dwell on self pity and depression, will. in time, simply not be. Mother Nature's evolutionary gift of "This feels good because you're supposed to be doing it" and "This feels bad because you aren't supposed to keep doing it" is being ignored. And if you ignore the signs nature had blessed you with, you end up getting lethally poisoned by the brightly coloured creature, or struck by lightning in a booming storm, etcetera. It's a phase for attention. It's a "subculture" that's fueled on self-perpetuating garbage that most of us learn to deal with. Pardon the pun, but "Emo", as a whole, will slit it's own wrist soon enough. This whole "emo" thing will be the human race's all-encompassing, embarassing adolescent-lashing-out phase, that all mankind will look back at and said "Heh, could you believe we actually thought it was cool to have such ridiculous hair?!". A metaphor of the individual, reflected on the whole.)
It could be the media... Watch Bowling for Columbine, and you'll learn that the corporation-owned entertainment companies pump fear and paranoia into society for corporate profit. We all know politicians have their wallets invested in the media as well, and we all know now that they know society is easier controlled when we're scared and morale is low.
Where the fuck does the selfishness begin? Why is this so? No matter what you decide to break down, no matter what... All negative things in this life start with one thing: SELF INTEREST. Self interest is the root of all evil. Stop and think about that for a minute, and you'll see that the greatest evil we have ever known is self-interest. People who don't see all life and resources on this planet as one big symbiotic experience. Or maybe people that crave competition. People that need to have more _______ than anyone else, are the cause of all negative actions, reactions, and chain-reactions caused by man.
And when people realize that they're being selfish, or they're causing others to suffer, they usually either compromise their morals or find reasoning behind their actions. They associate being wrong with failure, and that is not so. We're forced and conditioned to believe that man is naturally greedy, and naturally violent. We are instincutally primitive in these ways and there is nothing we can do about it. This is not so. There is no human nature, simply human behavior - and human behavior has always been changing. It is a product of an individual's choices and actions on a small scale. It may be persuaded and manipulated and conditioned by mass control, but that isn't the fault of the large amounts of people. That's the fault whoever is in control there.
Another really important thing I've learned in life is that IT'S OKAY TO BE WRONG.
It really is. We've all been wrong. We've all realized we've made mistakes. And as long as we learn from them, there's nothing wrong with this process... But somewhere along the line, we humans become really, really self-righteous, and we all feel that we are "holier than thou". It's okay to be wrong as long as you recognize your mistakes, realize you've done something wrong, learn from it, and then apologize (should the feelings of others suffered from such). When the fuck did we stop saying sorry? The older I get, the less I hear the word "sorry". You got Jack beating himself to death with one blunt lie, and Jill slitting her own throat with her own sharp tongue, simply because they spend more effort covering up the lies they told or the faults they've made, instead of admitting their mistakes, and moving forward. It's called LIVING AND LEARNING. Being wrong isn't a terrible burden like we're usually taught! Being wrong is the first step to enlightenment and forever bettering ourselves as individuals, and as a people!
I understand that we're all a product of conditioning. There isn't a place on the globe anymore when you can actually be "free". There isn't. I can't simply decide to live in a tent and hunt for food for free for the rest of my life. There's these things called goverments and institutions that "own" different parts and aspects of the world. Why? Because a long time ago, their predecessors put a stick with some coloured cloth in some dirt and proclaimed "I call this place!" That being said, we're pretty much all conditioned to the cultures and societies we're born into and raised by.
So as unfortunate as these things are, we fortunately grow up in many different cultures, with many different feelings, with many different beliefs, and many different thought-processes. There's nothing wrong with other cultures. There's no such thing as a master race. Nobody's perfect. We can all learn from other peoples' cultures and subcultures and ways of life. Differences are a beautiful thing. We can learn from our differences. We can take pride in our uniqueness. (Except us white folk! Sitcoms... Genocide... Slavery... Country music? Nothing to be proud of there! Kill Whitey. Haha!) And the more different we are, the less likely Globalization stands a chance (watch the documentary ZeitGeist). As individuals, we cannot all be compromised and controlled in the same fashion, much like evil powers today are trying to do. We should have love for our fellow man. Our fellow man means everyone. We shouldn't make other men into the men we are. We should all celebrate and take pride in our differences. It's what is preventing us all from being manipulated in the same way! As long as we have individual sects and cultures and countries, we can never be doomed as a race! Until the whole world is given the means to reach a similar level of high consciousness, equal education and opportunity, the differences we have in our cultures are all we have to compare the good in the world to the fucked up and corrupt.
There are many types of conditioning. But I believe to force your beliefs upon anyone, is wrong. That's why I'll take this time to say, that if you disagree with everything I am saying right now, I don't care, I still love you. You are entitled to your own beliefs and your own ways of life. Your life. Your choices. It's no business of mine to go around forcing people to do anything. I'm not starting a religion. Which means I will not threaten, and intimidate you and say "You are doomed to eternal damnation if you don't believe as I do!". I will, however do my damnedest to try to open the eyes of the masses to peace, love and unity. Things nobody on Earth can say are bad things. Hell, even if I fail at this miserably right now, I hope someone, somewhere will take something from what I'm writing and maybe it won't be all for naught.
I am not making anyone conform to my beliefs. I am not a one-sided believer. I am open minded, accepting, and kind. I do not have the beliefs of anyone else. These are my own that I've come to realize. I understand a lot of people will assume I'm crazy, but I've never felt more sane. I've simply opened my eyes. Rock bottom was several hundred miles back, and ever since, I've simply kept my eyes open. I am always learning, growing and adapting. So again, I could be wrong... And if I am, I'll learn from it. I promise you.
But another important thing I've learned in life - There's a difference between and opinion and an informed opinion. So let's inform and educate and spread awareness! Which is what I'm doing right now as these fingers hit these keys. I am not assimilating and cause paranoia, no, I am simply proposing to you that you consider a couple things and exercise critical thought. Without asking why, and without trying to make things better, you are a slave to your own willful ignorance. Again, another form of being the walking dead. Wasting your time until you're in the ground. And you won't even have any of the wicked benefits of being the undead. (I'd like to take this time to say that zombies are fucking rad.)
I can type on and on and on about religion. I've done my research. I've cross-referenced it. But essentially, to break it down for you real quick... The ancient Egyptians and Mesopotamians (and many other ancient cultures, probably long before these two examples I've given off the top of my head) had a system of fables, that coincided with the constellations in the sky, and it allowed them to maintain their crops, navigate the globe, and ultimately survive as a society. Certain assholes with a lust to control everything for their own personal gain and thirst for power, applied adaptations to their beliefs, made it a bit more literal, and blanketed an entire society in all-too-genuine-seeming fables.
12 months = 12 apostles. Sun God = Son of God. Jesus = Perseus (The North Star). The Cross = Orions Belt (Constellation shaped as a cross). The Winter Solstice = The Death Of The Son Of God (When the North Star is at it's lowest). The End Of The Winter Solstice = The Resurrection Of The Son Of God (When the North Star starts climbing upward again, to fulfil another yearly cycle). And so on and so on and so on...
I can go on, but it's common sense that the bible isn't a work of anything celestial, but astrological and astronomical. And now you have followers, following fables. Taking the words of history's most blatantly-plagiarizing bastards, with the intent to control the way all people think, to heart. This is the beginning of prejudice, hatred, slavery, genocide, sexism, racism, homophobia... This is where things go wrong - when people try to control people. They wanted superiority over others. Their own greed has caused thousands of years of pain and suffering and death and torture...
If you don't even know the person who wrote the book (let alone their intentions), how can you devote yourself to it?
Don't get me wrong, some people need to bible to stay in tact. Some people lack the ability to be contributing members of society without it. That's okay. There's nothing wrong with that. If you can't have faith in yourself, I suppose you have to put it elsewhere. The bible's not all bad. It's got some good things in there.
But the good things it preaches are basic and common sense. We are pretty much all born with those inside of us already. But here you have several billion jag-offs all bickering over who has the right belief in something that doesn't exist. Religious wars, crusades, genocide... What the fuck, are you serious?! I understand that bible-thumpers raise their children to be bible-thumpers. But where do they get off leaving out the teaching of seeking possibility?! Here we go again with everyone being so goddamn self-righteous. Everyone's got to be the MOST right and the MOST holy and MOST pure... And look what it does! Okay, so condition your kids to adopt YOUR beliefs, that's cool... But don't leave out an important lesson in life: It's okay to be wrong. Your beliefs are not perfect, your beliefs are not all-righteous, all-knowing and all-holy. Neither are mine. We're all human. We all fuck up. We can all hug and apologize after and get along regardless of beliefs.
Religion is simply what some people use to fill a void in their lives. Other than a closed-minded up-bringing, religious people turn to a most-likely-fictitious "God" to feel that one thing that makes all people on this Earth feel good: A feeling of oneness. Unity. Religious people flock together with people of the same beliefs to feel like they belong with something greater. Unfortunately, religion's spine is the rule of exclusivity. "Everyone else is yet to be enlightened, or a blasphemer, and our beliefs are the ones that are most right!"
But it's unfortunate that most religion teaches you that you ARE the most pure and holy and wise and gifted as long as you follow it... And in this people trek the globe trying to assimilate others into their beliefs. Condition those you feel will not make it into heaven. It's true every man does right by his own eye, and I'm sure if you think you're doing the world a favour you'll probably spread the word... (Hey! Just like I'm doing right now!)
It's funny. It's calculated control, really. "You must go around and make everyone think the same way and behave the same way. You'll be rewarded... But after you die."
Why don't people see this?
Instead of "God", and instead of a congregation of people who all think alike, why can't we just acquire the same sense of unification and oneness with ALL PEOPLE ON EARTH?!
It's obvious, by now, that I have no deity. I have no belief in any celestial being. I do however ponder spiritualism, and energies being constant, and the Universe being one. But these ponderings remain inside my head. But again, I am open to possibilities. If you can prove to me that there is a God, I'll probably believe in one. Good luck, though.
But again, I might be wrong. I am willing and able to accept that there might be a God. If you can honestly prove one to me, I'm in. Why wouldn't I? I'm not (that) spiteful.
I don't know what God is, but I can tell you what God isn't: MAN. Religion is a bureaucracy between Man and God. If there is a God, why would you need to donate a day of the week and money to him in order to have a personal relationship or understanding with one? If that's not evil-man's greed at hand, I don't know what is...
But again, it's NATURAL to recognize what the right thing is, is it not? Can't people simply take a step back and realize they're the product of conditioning? Why don't we take a look from other peoples' angles and walk a mile in their shoes? Don't they realize what they're doing is wrong?!
I did! I'm no different from anybody else! Maybe it's because I didn't dub something "evil" before I checked it out and alternative ways of thinking were presented to me through experience... Hmmmm... Maybe we simply have to get over being afraid of trying new things?
All you have to do is open your eyes, ask questions, seek answers, and for the love of (or lack of) God, you'll have all the answers in the world bestowed upon you!
It's simply when you stop living and learning and asking questions... It's when you stop growing and expanding and learning and experiencing... That you might as well just stop breathing altogether. Because mysteries exist for us to solve them. What's the point of condemning ourselves to a box with no windows, while we live in this big beautiful world with so much to figure out? An infinite amount of experiences and knowledges await us! All we have to do is reach for them! Are we afraid to learn that we were wrong all along? Is pride that makes us closed-minded? Is that pride racial? Nathional? Religious?
It's called adaptability.
Instead of shaping and controlling the world around you, how about you adapt to it instead? Maybe that's how the weak gained control... Long ago they realized they couldn't adapt... The Human Race: It was survival of the fittest, so they invented the fucking gun. They manipulated and enslaved to get a leg-up on everyone else...
"There is a Law that man should love his neighbor as himself. In a few hundred years it should be as natural to mankind as breathing or the upright gait; but if he does not learn it he must perish."
-- Alfred Adler
Put faith within yourself. You are your own God. You ARE created in your creators likeness: Your mom and your dad. You are in charge of all your actions. You are in charge of all your mistakes. These are not "sins". This is called personal accountability and responsibility for one's own actions.
If I can recognize this, why can't others?
Sexism, racism, homophobia... All of these things are contributors to the evil that is present in everyday life.
Men and women are different. It's a beautiful thing. Especially when they come together. It can be a lovely, harmonious (or cacophonous, depending on the circumstances. Haha!) experience if we love eachother, even for our differences.
The colour of your skin is menial, and culture one has is unique. Again, a lot can be learned from other cultures. We are all human. We all have the same needs, the same wants. We all want to be happy.
Homosexuals aren't a threat, or disgusting, or deranged. Whether it's a personal choice, or the way they're born, who fucking cares? It's their own life and their own choices in it. They aren't pushing their ways on anyone, and homosexuals partake in relationships with other homosexuals. They're keeping to themselves. Who the fuck are we to not let them live their own lives? They aren't hurting anyone or anything or assimilating others to become gay as well. How much of that can be said for the religious sects that oppose them?
We just need to learn to love one another.
"When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then there will be true peace."
-- Sri Chin Moi Gosh
It's all so basic. It's all so natural. Just look inside yourself as a human being, and all the answers are right there. Just sever yourself from everyday ties the inhibit your ability to think freely, and you'll see all the answers inside of you. Educate yourself. Learn as much as you can. Knowledge is power! Everyone has, within them, the ability to make this world a better place.
In the words of Flobots... There is a war going on for your mind. It sounds harsh, but it's true. There are forces out there, people, corporations, political agendas... There are forces that are trying to assimilate you. They are trying to gain control over how you think, and what you do. Trying to make you go to work, come home and crave their product. Do your research. Don't simply take my word for it. Look into it for yourself! It's not conspiracy theory, it's fact...
9/11 was an inside job.
Vietnam was incited on false pretenses.
The Great Depression was a planned and calculated event.
Religion was created with means of mass control.
And all of these things occurred because of the same reason... The same evil greed for profit and control. The lives of everyone we know are effected by these events. War-profiteering, arms-races, corporations... Self-interest is the enemy.
The revolution is coming. 2012 has a lot of speculation behind it... It's supposed to be the "end" of something. Nostradamus speculated something heavy around now. Certain calendars of passed civilizations that were thought to go on forever, end around this date. But nobody's really too worried about it yet, but I assure you, the media will hop on that one soon enough. But worry shouldn't occur. Nobody's really looking at it as an opportunity for a new beginning. When in reality, it's not the end of anything other than all that is bad.
We have to realize that everything is infinite. Even in the unlikely event that the world will simply explode tomorrow: You can not destroy energy, only disperse it and allow it change forms. So maybe your entity goes somewhere? Who knows? Maybe a heaven does exist. Maybe your energy goes back to where it came from - the Universe. Maybe the Universe is truly infinite like some theories propose. Maybe the Big Bang is going to repeat itself according to some other theories. Nobody knows.
One theory I have, is that by the year 2012, the revolution will occur. Not necessarily a violent one. Not necessarily a hostile takeover. I think that the good in every man will come to be manifested in the actions of every man. I don't know how exactly, but I have a hunch. Other people such as Michael Tsarion have some interesting theories as well... But mine is that the world will become a better place from then on...
But never before have human beings been so gifted. The words you're reading this very moment are brought to you by electrical information. If I want, I can search the internet to learn about a past event, or how to cure an illness, or what the little plastic dealies on the end of shoelaces are called (they're called "aglets" by the way). Information comes quick and effortless. Never before has the world had this much knowledge packed within its many domes. People are learning. People are thinking. At a never-before seen rate. Human consciousness is being propelled and perpetuated by technology. And as long as people keep learning and thinking, we are not weak. We will not be taken advantage of, as long as we keep our eyes open and in the right direction. Humans, as a whole, have never been as conscious as they are today. We still got a way to go, but we've come a long way, in a short period of time.
Along with the information flying at us so effortlessly and quickly, we have more philosophers than ever today. We have more people with positive messages than ever before. People with messages of intelligence, expansion of mind, critical thought, and unity. Even entertainment is conscious! Artists such as Flobots, Immortal Technique, Rage Against The Machine, Leftover Crack, Propaghandi, Fugazi, Doctor Steel, Bomb The Music Industry, Lupe Fiasco, NOFX, The King Blues, Nine Inch Nails... I can go on and on and on and on (again), listing all of these artists that are awake and aware... Some of them are outright pissed off at the way things are going right now, and openly admit they don't know how to fix it (Leftover Crack). Others are pissed but control their aggression and focus it on things such as the teaching of exercizing critical thought and self expression, and finding the tools within yourself to make the world a better place (Flobots). Hell, there are even artists who make a mockery of how things in this world work, and even though it's all for fun, they are politically and morally aware, and reall fun (Doctor Steel). There are all variations to the degree of political, religious, and societal expressions they have, but the point here is that never before has change in human consciousness been so frequent, intense, and apparent than today, even in the mainstream.
We have never been so blessed as to have all these positive, benefitial, influential and revolutionary messages coming at us from all angles and genres.
There are documentaries out there who's main focus is making the world a better place through awareness. "ZeitGeist" is what I'm talking about the most here. Where there are thousands of hours worth of good educational documentaries that I wish everyone could enjoy, ZeitGeist is number one for summing it all up. It hits you so fast and heavy, that I was in disbelief for a long time... And when I cross-referenced and got over that, I finally found myself having to watch it over and over again, in order to absorb every little thing it was trying to tell me. I highly recommend you check this out.
http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/
There's part one which is about the fallacies that have struck every person on the globe. I've mentioned most of this already in this writing. And then there's part two, which just came out yesterday. Part two is called "Addendum". Think of it like this: Part one is educating you on the lies you've been told your whole life, and Part two is the solution to ending all hate, crime, poverty, greed, famine, war, and evil in this world forever.
When I watched part two, I actually shed a tear of joy. For the first time in my life I cried out of pure happiness... I can't even remember the last time I cried, but it truly moved me. To know that such a beautiful revolution is coming, and I'm going to be able to do my part of making it happen... I urge that you all exercise critical thought throughout the viewing of anything informative, but goddamn... The world they speak of is beautiful, harmonious and bountiful. It makes perfect sense. It's a world where everyone has equal opportunity to be the best at whatever it is they are good at for the benefit of mankind. That's right, I said world. The whole damn world. Because we have the resources to make it happen. We have enough resources on this planet to make sure that all the homeless people around the world in third world countries, and the ones on the streets in our very towns and cities, all have shelter. We have enough resources to educate every single human on this planet. We have the resources to end famine. We have the ability to end all disaster, all pain, all negativity. What it takes, is your participation. Your education. Your actions will decide the future. It's up to you to make the world a better place. Spread awareness. Because the more people know, the less likely they are to be duped!
The biggest revolution is coming real soon. It will be peaceful, and for the better.
Back to the message of Flobots, especially in their release "Fight With Tools", part of their message is that "as long as you're thinking, you're winning". Nothing can be more true. Becoming aware, opening your eyes and maintaining a conscious mind. "Look within you to find the tools to fight the revolution". Whatever it is you're into, whatever it is you do, just make sure you're creating, and expressing yourself, and exercising critical thought. But most importantly, being happy! Just continue to do what it is that makes you happy! I'm glad Flobots wrote this before I, because I don't think I would have been able to make it sound so beautiful. But it's a message we share. Revolutionaries will come in all shapes and sizes and creeds and colours. And their messages will be equally diverse, but they will all teach the same things: Making the world a better, harmonious place.
And my vessel, as I mentioned before, will be music. Through music, I will spread a positive message and awareness. (Or at least try to. Afterall, it's the best anyone can do... To try. If you don't try, you'll never know. No such thing as failing if you tried.) And the type of music we're doing right now is punk, ska, reggae, metal and a hint of psychobilly and some folk. We're really open-minded folks, and we love all types of music, as long as it isn't rubbish, so we're not exclusive in these genres. Like us, I'm sure our sound will continue to evolve and expand. To me, these are the most important genres in music. But that's just our preference! Everyone has their own, which they are entitled to, but these are the most fun and versatile genres of music in our opinion. So we can use them to shape to whatever needs we have handy.
And in music, I will apply the philosophies of punk-rock, for they are the most near and dear to me.
Now, before we get started, and possibly criticized, now would be a good time to mention that each individual has their own definition of what "punk" is. I can only speak for myself right here, but that's what makes it a beautiful thing. It's different in each individual, so it can never die. Anyone that tells you that punk is dead, probably needs to inform themselves before they develop an opinion. That way they'd have an informed opinion. Punk, much like the insurgency of the Flobots, is alive and well. It's a state of mind. A unity.
Let me break it down for you... There are many types of punks. Look beyond class levels for a moment, and look at different ideals of punk. You have your "original" punk rockers, in the mid-to-late 70's who simply were dissatisfied with the mainstream and did anything they could to not become manufactured, corporate and boring. In this era you also have the other "original" punkers who were politically conscious, and fighting for change. Did it start politically or to rebel against the mainstream? Did they start in the UK or the US? Everyone will tell you THEIR adaptation of what went on, but again, that's just an opinion. But we say: Who fucking cares, it's all the same movement. You have your two types of anarchist punks - the informed who simply think that any form of structured goverment is wrong, and the un-informed who simply like to destroy shit and set things on fire and fuck shit up. You have your oldschool early-to-mid-80's hardcore which was so fucking pissed off at everything that they invented an extremely aggressive genre of punk rock. Some hardcore was socially conscious, some hardcore was an excuse to drink, fuck and fight. You have your gutterpunks who are simply out of luck, and you have your gutterpunks who prefer poverty to conformity. You have your elitist idiots who think you're "not punk rock" if you have clean pants, certain tastes in music, or express yourselves in certain ways. Worst of all you have prejudice punks, who are just so fucking redundant and hypocritical, they don't even deserve a fucking name or an elaboration in these writings...
But long story short, no matter how informed or un-informed the individual in any given sect might be, punk rock is about a few main things...
- Inciting radical change for the better.
- Unity.
- DIY (Which, for the uninformed, stands for "Do It Yourself")
Anyone that tells you otherwise, either simply does not know what they're talking about, or has more of an opinion than knowledge. Break it down. Really. It all comes down to radical change (hence the attitude, rebelious style, exceptionally different sound, etc.), being in the company of those with similar ideals and doing things for yourself, or those around you. Trust me, I'm well versed on this subject.
I can go on and on about the teachings of punk rock, but there is a greater topic at hand here...
I've filtered out all the hypocritical and counter-revolutionary, self-indulgent bullshit that exists in the many forms of punk rock, and ended up with my ultimate/current set of ideals. It's where I am today. And simply to remind you, I am not set in stone. I am always learning, always adapting, always growing. And I feel my ideals are entirely non-prejudice and completely benefitial. Sexism, racism, homophobia? All of these things will be extinct before my time in this world is over. Not by my just hand, but by banding together with those who share a passion for unity. The people need to come together. The people need to stop squabbling over menial, trivial bullshit and open their eyes to the real enemy. We're being lied to each and every day by people who control every faction of our daily lives, and they're getting away with it. Because they're the same people pumping paranoia and hate and prejudice into society. Colour, sexual preference and superficial bullshit are distracting us and blinding us from the true evils of this world: the powers that be have ill-intent. Advertising, reality television, plastic surgery... They are all busy filling you with time consuming, brainless garbage to distract you from getting out of line and inciting radical change. Punks know this. Hence the repelling of the "mainstream".
It's not right, the way the world is right now. It's not right.
And with the message of unity and radical change for the better, I will apply these things to music. And through music, I will spread awareness. If it were not for music, I would never have heard the name Huey P. Newton, or heard about the International Monatary Fund, or Micheal Parenti... I can go on and on. But through conscious music, minds will grow and learn and open up to what's really going on. The more aware we are, the more adaptable we are, and it will become less likely that we will be taken advantage of. And I hope to use my band, my music, and the philosophies I spoke of as a medium for inciting radical change, encouraging a sense of unity, and not being so fucking serious the whole fucking time. We can write about how pissed off we are, and hopefully encourage some people to look into the things we speak of. Or we can write songs about stupid, silly shit and having a good time. Because sometimes it's easy to forget that all is not lost, and the world isn't hopeless. Just because we play aggressive music, doesn't mean we're aggressive people. We really are a fun-loving bunch, we just wanna make the world a better place.
That's the good thing about punk. Albeit there are people who'll say different, but with radical change and unity, most of the punkers out there know what a good time is. That's why you have silly songs from socially aware bands as well. There is nothing wrong with having a good time. Back to what I was saying before, this relates with following our central emotional guidance system (and how emo is going to make itself extinct)... Positive energy is so much more productive and harmonious and much, much more powerful. It's something we need to do in order to continue as a species. It feels good because that's Mother Nature's way of telling us we should continue to do it. All the chemical reactions in our brains are products of evolution and adaptation. We all have the tools within us to show us what we have to do to survive, we just got to open our eyes to them. That being said... Making the world a better place feels good.
I am a punk. This does not make me one-dimensional. If you think that anyone is "just a punk" (as I have been called before) that makes you the one-dimensional one. I am a punk. I am a poet. I am a writer. I am an artist. I am a lover. I am a fighter. I am a son. I am a brother. I am a ska-boss. I am a psycho. I am a rudeboy. I am a revolutionary. I am a vessel for a greater cause. I am a product of two people fucking. I am educated. I am conscious. I am aware. I am empathetic. I am sympathetic. I am optimistic. I am aggressive. I am passive.
I am many things. A lot of people call me a lot of things. Hehe. And call me whatever you gotta call me. Some people need to put labels on things to make situations easier for them to understand. It's stupid, but I understand it... Regardless, call me what you will... But one thing I refuse to be is negative influence.
If I learn I am doing something wrong I will try to undo my mistakes and apologize sincerely for the damage I have caused. That goes for all aspects of my being. I will not become closed-minded in any of my beliefs. That's not right. I will listen to anyone that has anything intelligent and open-minded to say and consider their thoughts and their beliefs. I will even take into consideration that everything I typed over these last couple months (two couple-hour sessions, not constant... I'm a procrastinator! Shut up! I got around to it, didn't I?!), is completely and utterly wrong. I may be very passionate about how I feel, and I may be very certain that what I believe is right... But I will not be limited by anything internal. I am never going to stop striving perfection. And perfection will never come. This is something I'm okay with. I've come to terms with it, and I accept it.
This is where you come in, and this is the main fucking point here... It's up to you to spread awareness. It's up to you to induce consciousness. It's up to you to make the world a better place. Like Ghandi says, "You must be the change you want to see in the world." So inform yourselves! And inform everyone you know!
I am dead serious when I say the lives of everyone you know, and all the Earth's resources are at risk. We live in a failed society. It's time to start anew. We deserve better. As a people. You are part of this world. There are no black problems, or white problems, or Jewish problems, or muslim problems, or American problems, or Canadian problems, or Iraqi problems... There are not. These are PEOPLE PROBLEMS. We are all just a successful virus, clinging to a ball of mud that's floating around in an infinite void. We are all ever-so-lucky to even be experiencing life. So why the fuck does 1% of the population literally own the majority of the world, and are also in charge of all of the different deciding factors in how we live our lives? From what we eat, to what we wear, to how we talk, to what we do for fun, and even what we believe... Why am I a colossal fatass, and 40,000 children died today because of nothing to eat? This is a calculated situation. The power does not belong to the people. Let alone the people all over the world. This world is spinning out of control and it's the self-interest of some very few, very weak men that's causing it. We have the means to take the power back. We have information at our fingertips. Just look how you're reading this! We have the means to make the world a better place for all human beings.
It sounds like a longshot, and it might take a while, but imagine the future! Jobs will be irrelevant. We have the technology to handle all the menial tasks by machine. Automated labour. It allows us to focus on advancing our race as a whole. Our energy won't be spent on a daily grind. We'll focus on furthering mankind. For everyone. Money will disappear. Without the supply and demand of large, profit-hungry companies mediating the control and output of resources, there will be an abundance of everything you'll ever need. It will all be free. You can have whatever you want. Free and easy. Because in this proposed society, man contributes to man as a whole by doing whatever it is they are passionate about and happy doing. It's not communism. There is no wage. Everyone gets everything they need because they deserve to have their dreams come true. Tyranny, greed, and crime will virtually disappear. All your needs will be satiated. You'll have no need to steal, and you won't be a symptom of corrupt humanity. Everything you've ever wanted will be granted for free, to you because some asshole fuckface jerk in a suit who had wealthier parents than you doesn't go "Hey, this person wants this pretty bad. I wonder how much I can get out of them for this..." and then takes as money coloured pieces of paper from you as possible. It just won't happen. Greed won't exist. Poverty only exists, because wealth of the pocket exists. Wars will be a thing of the past. Controlled scarcity will no longer exist. Just harmony... For everyone, all over the world.
It sounds like a fantasy, doesn't it? It sounds almost too good to be true. Well with that attitude, it will be. But YOU can make it happen. You have to inform yourself. You have to spread awareness. The world is going to change for the better, real soon.
All you have to do is educate yourself by watching this...
http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/
Parts one and two are on there. They're free, and you don't even have to download them. So the least you can do is click and watch. If you are a good person, you will do what you can to make sure this information gets out as much as possible. Inform everyone you can. Do everything in your power to make it happen. We can make the world a better place. For you, for me, for everyone. Forever.
Please just check it out. What have you got to lose? But it's the most amazing thing I've ever seen. And it's something I will be dedicating my life towards. Maybe not as exactly as they propose, but as close as possible. Because everyone on this planet, and our planet itself, all deserves better. We have the technology, the know how, the means, the ability... All we need now is the power and the snuffing out of evil institutions. We can do this. All it takes is you. And your open mind, and loving heart, and spreading consciousness.
I think I've pretty much said everything I have been meaning to. I typed the majority of this out months ago, but procrastinated a bunch, and then I was reinspired when I watched ZeitGeist: Addendum. I'm not going to sit here and re-iterate the whole thing to you, that's what it's there for. And trust me, it's a lot more entertaining than I can be. Haha! Especially when I rant on and on this long...
Thank you for your time. I hope I've helped somehow.
