If man, as a whole, were collectively after something other than wealth, bread and butter... The basic needs of food, shelter, water... Wouldn't be an issue, let alone the existence of famine and poverty. There would be freedom. We would collectively be after the same goal of greatness, and there would be no segregation and dividing amongst people over something so petty as a "nation". The only reason poverty and famine exist, is because greed and gluttony exist. There is enough basic things on the face of the Earth, for all life to flourish. That's why we were able to spawn from micro-organisms in the first place.
