I'm not so good this week. I might have a place to live in the city, but it all depends on my ability to get to the city to pay for it. I can't get there until Monday at the earliest and then, for reasons all too stupid, wouldn't have any way to get back to my father's house until the following Thursday night or Monday afternoon. This month has been enormously stressful for the most irritating and tedious reasons. Needing a ride here, not having the right postage and having to ride my bike back home for another dime. Yes, I've gotten a lot of work done, but I've not had a good time with another person since my first week back when Masha came to visit. I'm literally spending all day hiding in the basement from the Wicked Step Mother and spending all night too stressed and busy to sleep. I'm just bloody lonely and bored. It's a bit pathetic and maudlin really.
At any rate, the work is getting done, and I'll move out eventually. At the moment I'm taking advantage of the crushing boredom to force myself to read Kafka. Really, I think he's quite clever and whatnot, but fucking hell is his writing dull and dry. It's taken me about two months to read The Trial because I've got to read fifty dull pages explaining things that Western Marxists who use Kafka's work explain in a tenth the space. But still: the canon!
