There is a option I found in iTunes that allows you to manually update songs to the pod, so we have now circumvented the whole 'always use the same computer and never touch the 500+ song playlist' hangup.

I am now on 3.1 days worth of music and still have plenty o' space and only a 12 hour battery life.
