If you have a few minutes to idle away, then check out this extremely surreal early film by the Czech filmmaker Jan Svankmajer:

If you've never before seen any of his stuff (and I've never met very many people who have), and you like weird claymation shit and trippy animation, then I'd recommend you check out the big collection of his stuff currently gathering over on YouTube...

I am preparing to take my GREs next week. I fear the math, but then fortunately all the writing programs I'm applying to most likely won't give too much of a damn over my math scores. I'm trying to get into a good grad school fiction writing program. So many decent MFA programs seem to be in small towns in the middle of nowhere. I'm mainly looking at programs in cities, though...I just don't think I can do the small town thing, even a college town. I've never not lived in a generally urban area (even Portland is kina urban compared to a lot of places). But am I being too prejudiced against small towns, maybe?

Anybody here grow up or spend some time living in a small town? If so, tell me about the goods and bads.
catdad:
My first impression would be that you will have far fewer distractions in a small town, allowing you to stay focused on the program. If you are good at maintaining your class work despite a bazillion things to do around the city OR if you'd be more distracted thinking about all the things you wished you could do but can't because you are in a small town, then stick with city programs.
