I personally see no use to place the bar through the peak of the H. When dealing with physics it is useful to use such graphical representations when attempting to convey the message in the form of an equation. However, the H bar only represents Planck's constant over two. So then, is it necessary to confuse the elementary physics student with yet another graphical representation? I think not. Unless one happens to be dividing H bar by another figure. It could be confusing to represent the numerator as a fraction. In fact...it would be plain wrong.
Now that I think about it, H bar makes sense....but I still don't like it.
