Isn't it odd, that when you open a mens magazine, there are pictures of naked women. And when you open a women's magazine, there are pictures of naked woment. Where are all the half naked guys (Playgirl is not a fair answer)?
such a good question! what the hell is up with that??? why is society ashamed of men's bodies (or, is society ashamed of men's bodies???)...what do i mean by this...ah, shit, i was hoping i wouldn't have to explain myself...well, i mean, it seems like we have such a mixed message...on the one hand, we are all very much aware that we are living in a patriarchal society...blah, blah, blah...and yet...for how long have women ruled all that is considered sexy....and therefore, powerful through sexuality and the subtle use of it...so, since we are all ruled more or less by biology...and our biology necesitates our need of sex...then whoever is in control of the sex has a certain amount of power right? so then, what is up with the weird imbalance of women (although, admittedly this can be challenged in numerous ways...and i think that men are beginning to be equally shown off in a similar way these days) being the bearers of the sex'goddess shrine...and men being the bearers of just about everything else...??? by the way, i'm only referring to media representation...not actual dymamics of the sexes...
perhaps men are more insecure collectively...i mean, why the hell does straight porn just about always have the ugliest guy you have ever seen doing it with this long finger nailed babe??? my vote is that most straight men don't want to feel threatened by some hot stud who can obviously get laid anytime he wants...while the viewer is left with nothing but his 6 pack of pabst, porn vider, and beer gut to keep him company... although, i really don't believe that men are more insecure...perhaps just in a different way??
in other words...i have no idea...i just wanted to respond anyway
I think it is about insecurity... and competition. There's this whole messed up idea in this country that women should view other women as competition for the affections of men. So women can look at other women and aspire to look like them, and men can gaze at bodies they'll never touch. I once had a younger guy ask me if he was gay cause he thought this chick was hot, and later found out that it was a guy. No one looks at women funny when they say another woman is beautiful, but it doesn't go the other way... ug.
So I read 1984 for the first time recently, and was quite impressed. Among many of the concepts presented in the book, is the nature of the past. If all history books said that George Washington cut down that cherry tree, and we all heard the story, and if any person on the street either didn't know, or believed it to... Read More
Growing older... I feel that I have successfuly held to one of my goals... not to loose my youth. I'm 27 this month. I have a career in the works, a great girl, good friends, and a healthy mind. I still play games, I still stay up late, and I'm all about having a good time and big smiles. So, having... Read More
no kidding...aging is such a bizarre concept...we're passing through the cycles of time, and passing through 'rites of passage's' in many cultures... it's crazy we can all feel so young and soo old all at the same time.
i can see time refining me...sometimes it's more shocking than others, and i have to get closer to the mirror and remind myself how old i am... but i'm feeling really positive about my future prospects for the most part...for we are like fine wine take care you...and thanks for helping to spread the word...
Why I like Star Trek... This could make me a dork, and I truly think I am, but my reasoning is in fact dork-exempt... Star Trek portrays humans as a generous race, a people who are interested in attaining knowledge, not wealth, a people who work to better themselves and humanity. At the risk of sounding like some goth-hippie cross breed,... Read More
I think they already tried that "Noble Experiment" in the USSR and it didn't work. Alas, we're stuck in this greed driven hell hole. Eh...could be worse.
Do you ever feel guilty? I feel a little guilty, when I watch Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. I mean... as a people, as humans, we could have skipped making this film and instead fed Africa for a year. Seriously, one hundred, million dollars... Dear lord. So yeah, I bought the movie, but I feel a little guilty...... Read More

Curious how we deny logic... On an average day, we know we love them, we know we cherish them, we know it would take so so much for us to break up with them. Then you have a fight, and all the reasons in the world hit you why you just want to walk away, say "fuck this" and be alone....... Read More
Thought for the day: Cults... Why do some movies inspire cult followings while others are quickly forgoten? I went and saw a showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show at a local theatre last night (not for the first time), and it's truly amazing all the work that goes into it. I highly recomend the Rocky experience for anyone who hasn't lost their chery yet.... Read More
Wow, how time flies...
Thought for the day: Movies versus Music. The average movie, that is, movie that makes it to the theatres (more than half don't), costs several million to make. More than half of those make their money back... Yet, in this country, music is a bigger industry. The average CD costs far less to make (including paying the artist and what have... Read More
