Wow, how time flies...
Thought for the day: Movies versus Music. The average movie, that is, movie that makes it to the theatres (more than half don't), costs several million to make. More than half of those make their money back... Yet, in this country, music is a bigger industry. The average CD costs far less to make (including paying the artist and what have you), and cost less on average than a movie (new CD: $16, new DVD: $20 (average, of course)). Music, however, is a far larger industry... Most people have more CDs than movies (I don't, but most do). Movies, for only a slightly larger pricetag, provide not just an auditory experience, but a visual one as well, yet most prefer music (i.e. to skirt one of their senses). We could attribute this to the versatility of music: You can listen to music while driving, you shouldn't (though people do) watch movies when driving. Or at work, or while talking to someone... But I think it's more than that. Music affects us in a deeper way than just entertainment on an autidory level. And while some movies can affect us like good music, it's music that really, truly speaks to our soul (if such a thing exists).
