Why are the tragic characters always the best? I mean, I want to live a happy life. I want a (black) picket fence, and a good life. Yet the characters I love, Rogue (X-Men), Moses (Hardware), Thomas Sutpen (Absolom, Absolom). It's not that they have what I don't (though they do), because that's not something I want. Why, then, do we love them?
