My friend is leaving this week for San Francisco... for three or more years. She's going for her PhD... that'll take a while. So I'm making her one of the best parting gifts I can... One of my mixes.
Now when I do a mix, I go all out. First, there needs to be a theme. This one has to do with leaving friends, and going out into the great wild world. Then I pick songs from my collection that fit this theme. Then I go through my movies (of which I may have more than CDs), and choose movie quotes that also fit the theme. Then they all get organized on the computer, picking which song should go where, and with which quote. Then the mix gets made. The whole thing takes about five hours... I'm in hour two now. I've made about fifteen of these mixes, all for various people who are special to me. Given the investiture of time and thought, they are special indeed...
Does anyone else do anything crazy like this?
