Thought for the day:

Why I like Star Trek... This could make me a dork, and I truly think I am, but my reasoning is in fact dork-exempt... Star Trek portrays humans as a generous race, a people who are interested in attaining knowledge, not wealth, a people who work to better themselves and humanity. At the risk of sounding like some goth-hippie cross breed,...

I think they already tried that "Noble Experiment" in the USSR and it didn't work. Alas, we're stuck in this greed driven hell hole. Eh...could be worse.
solimond:
It didn't work cause we weren't ready... Don't blame the system. People fouled it up...

Thought for the day:

Do you ever feel guilty? I feel a little guilty, when I watch Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. I mean... as a people, as humans, we could have skipped making this film and instead fed Africa for a year. Seriously, one hundred, million dollars... Dear lord. So yeah, I bought the movie, but I feel a little guilty......

Thought for the day:

Curious how we deny logic... On an average day, we know we love them, we know we cherish them, we know it would take so so much for us to break up with them. Then you have a fight, and all the reasons in the world hit you why you just want to walk away, say "fuck this" and be alone.......

Isn't Muppets From Space just the funniest fucking movie?

"If you tell him... I will smack you... I will smack you like a bad, bad donkey, okay?"

Thought for the day: Cults... Why do some movies inspire cult followings while others are quickly forgoten? I went and saw a showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show at a local theatre last night (not for the first time), and it's truly amazing all the work that goes into it. I highly recomend the Rocky experience for anyone who hasn't lost their chery yet....

jamy:
isn't 'cult' just a term used to throw videos in a category at the local blockbuster?
solimond:
I used to work at Blockbuster... does that mean I can use the term "cult?"

Wow, how time flies...
Thought for the day: Movies versus Music. The average movie, that is, movie that makes it to the theatres (more than half don't), costs several million to make. More than half of those make their money back... Yet, in this country, music is a bigger industry. The average CD costs far less to make (including paying the artist and what have...

Thought for the day:

Been a while, not that anyone reads these, but okay. I'm not generally a person who indulges in drug use. If pot were legalized tomorrow, I don't think my life would be affected. Even so, I have to wonder on what grounds the US government (or any government) can state that a naturally occuring plant, one that's been here in all...

I think they've got toys all wrong. They're too expensive, too addictive and too much fun. They shouldn't be for kids, who can't afford them or take care of them... they should be for us.

Thought for the day:
Subtlety... You know, I finaly got to see Belinda Carlisle perfom on stage last summer (childhood dream come true) when the Go-Gos were touring. Belinda was wearing a longsleve black shirt and a silver sequined skirt. Sometimes, when she was dancing, she'd pull the skirt up to her knee, just so she could dance with some more freedom. I swear, it...

Okay, thought for the day:

Why are the tragic characters always the best? I mean, I want to live a happy life. I want a (black) picket fence, and a good life. Yet the characters I love, Rogue (X-Men), Moses (Hardware), Thomas Sutpen (Absolom, Absolom). It's not that they have what I don't (though they do), because that's not something I want. Why, then, do...
