yeah, it's funny, we both love to cook, so there's pretty much always something going on in the kitchen, and a lot of leftovers that forget to be eaten.
well I'm really interested in naval architecture in general - all of it
but there is a dearth of information and therefore a need for scholarship in the earliest ships - and I think that is my academic interest. specifically around the Mediterranean in the 4th & 5th B.C.E., or the classical age of Greece. I am also interested academically in the seagoing traditions of the Roman Empire.
I am fed up with all the bugs.
"You can add girls to and remove girls from your list by visiting their page." Sure, so long as they're all Adrian. I'm sure she's perfectly lovely, but that is not the point.
Thanks for the well-wishing. I think my exams went alright. Much better than I expected they would, any how.
And a member of the Arachnids and Insects group fed up with all the bugs? For shame! Oh, wait. Not that kind of bug.
That walk you took the other day sounds really nice. Until a few months ago I lived in the woods, and you could see all kinds of critters when you went walking. I live in the city now, though, and the only animals you'll see are people's pet dogs. No fun.
I don't know anything about the politics in the UK. Which is odd because the only news I read is the BBC and The Guardian. Anyway, I'm not that informed about Pinochet, but I don't see what convicting him would have done for the betterment of things. I mean, death is pretty final.
Well this is all very tedious. I've hated the new SG layout since before it was rolled out upon us, and I have now had my major piece of adaptation to it removed. Tossers. I resent this unwelcome change.
Sadly, I'm paid up till July next year, so I have no comeback whatever.
Edit: I suppose that's slightly better. Grudgingly.
It's pure "I saw something that worked really well on another site and it's new and cool so let's do it on mine". I can only hope the designer of the site doesn't earn a wage, but the probably do.
I have heard it said that New York is the city of cities.
Sadly, I would not be able to tell.
Nor would I care. Cities are for visiting, not living in.
Which said, I have suggested that SG is close to being a city.
Object of inquiry: true that, although sometimes I would rather see someone really *inquire* about anything, than accept everything without discernment (and at other times, I would have them not look so hard for what need not be there).
Scientific Fundamentalism: similar to Robert Anton Wilson's Fundamental Materialism. Basically, the idea that only those things which can be explained and demonstrated by scientific method are worthwhile, while everything else must be in some state of error. I find it as intolerable as religious fundamentalism--Christian or otherwise--but I have an easier time dismissing the Christians than the scientists since I am more involved with the latter. Please do not get me wrong; I am a big fan of science, and as RAW said about Fundamental Materialism, I am opposed the _fundamentalism_, not the _science_, of what I have termed Scientific Fundamentalism.
I have always enjoyed New York City (watched _Breakfast at Tiffany's_ in Central Park, fun stuff like that), but like you, I have never lived there.
Hey, I appreciate your comment. You didn't offend me, not really. Things just get so out of hand so fast in the dscussion forum, particularly around topics like the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I'm just as guilty as anybody else, and I hope I didn't see, to rude or self-righteous, and I apologize if I misinterpreted the "Jewish homeland" thing.
Anyway, Yo La Tengo. They were awesome. We saw them at this ballroom in Portland. My girlfriend's in a wheelchair and throught the opening act we were getting really bummed because she couldn't see anything, but after Yo La Tengo went on their stage manager invited us back stage! Well, more like side stage since it was a ballroom, but we were sitting right there next to their wives, etc. It was increadible. They're much louder in person than you'd expect.
Anyway, thanks for the comment. Courtesy is far to rare.
Yeah, that's why I mentioned the loud. You wouldn't think it from their albums. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that we were sitting right next to the speakers. As for my lady-friend, unfortunately it's probably not a temporary thing (unless we get our asses in gear and put some serious time and money into stem-cell research.) We were in a car accident a year ago come December and she suffered a spinal chord injury. It seems worse than it is until you live through it. People adapt, you know? Life hands you a certain set of conditions and you learn how to deal with them if you can't change them because there's nothing else to do.

be well
