It's so hard to find quiet in the city, Having grown up in the northeast, snowy days are very special. My friends from other parts of the country don't always understand why I like the snow and the cold so much.

I love the peaceful silence that comes with the fallen snow. Everything is new again. My world is completely changed with a snowstorm. The buildings and greenspaces that I pass every day and know so well now look completely different and give me something new to look at.

The cold is exhilarating. A walk isn't a simple exercise, it's something to be endured.

For the third time in three days, I spent a very pleasant few hours in the library. My local branch has wonderful picture windows that look out over the adjoining park. The book stacks deaden an already hushed space. I find a nice comfortable chair next to the window and the heater, and read for hours. Well, maybe minutes between my attention saturation, but I do spend the afternoon.

This will probably be the last significant snow of the season. I can't wait for next year.
