It's Sinterklaas in the netherlands today, Sinterklaas is somewhat like Santa Clause.
the fifth of december is his birthday so in december he comes from spain in his steamboat along with his many henchmen the black piet's to fill childrens shoes with candy and toys.

the piets are very acrobatic, climbing buildings and roofs to spy on children to see if they're naughty or nice, good little children get toys while bad kids get a roe (a whip made of twigs), very bad kids get taken in a bag and brought back to spain.
