Well, travelled down to Austin on thursday night in the fairlane after playing a killer show with FOS the night before. Broke down in Georgetown (about 10 miles from my destination in north austin). I was headed down the highway drivin' along just fine and all of a sudden my interior lights start getting extremely bright and my radio goes dead, then all of my lights , including my headlights and taillights go out. I'm looking above me to make sure I'm not being beamed aboard some otherworldly craft unwittingly whilst people are honking at me like crazy. I pull over and luckily roll right into an all night gas station. I was really hoping to see Attack Formation and the Kodiaks that night, but that ended up being completely out of reach. Luckily I called a friend who contacted another friend via cell phone and they came to my aid. I luckily also packed a full toolbox to take with me, being my first roadtrip in the fairlane, so I had no problem switching out the battery. The thing looked like a burnt watermelon and had completely exploded. I figured "ok, no big deal, replace battery, hit the freakin' road again.' No such luck. I replaced the battery, and noone of my lights worked. I replaced all the fuses, even though they were good, still nothing. We finally, thanks to Jason, figured out that my high beams worked and decided, since the thing ran fine, we'd sneak it over to the Action House where I would spend the night and finish the one remaining beer, because by the time we got back from buying the battery it was 12:01. Woke up the next day and took it to the electrical place up the road from Darin's house and they said my Voltage regulator went out and overcharged everything so that's why all my bulbs and radio were blown. They charged me a price that was fairly reasonable to replace the Alternator and Voltage regulator, I bought some bulbs and replaced everything and I was on my way again. Just in time to head down to Sound Exchange and play the in store with Killer's Kiss which was a great time. Then it was on to gearfest downtown to get loaded and see some of my good friends from out of town. Frigg a Go Go started out the night and were great as always. I won't go through all the bands that played that night, but I will say the Lords of Altamount were really fun too, even though I still have a big knot on my leg from rolling around on the stage, and the riverboat Gamblers are always high energy rock and roll. Luckily when my glasses fell to the concrete floor, I could hold back the crowd long enough for someone to rescue them before they got stepped on. Passed out about four on Jason's couch, went to eat Curra's (great Mexican food) and took a rock and roll nap before the show we had to play at 7 at Emo's (gearfest). Got to see two of my favorite bands, the Baseball Furies and Sugar Shack, then we walked the equipment down to Beerland to play again, but bfore we played, it was the Bad Apples and the Shakewells and the double naught Spies, which my guitarist for the Deadites plays in also. They (00 spies) were great as usual, but by that time my guitarist was fading fast and barely able to tune or play his guitar by the time we played, much less formulate a thought as was my singer Kevin, so it turned out to be Mike ( bassplayer) and I holding it down and calling out songs to them and trying to play ringleaders to this fiasco, which the crowd I guess thoroughly enjoyed because they let us play til 2:30, and Darin and Kevin wrestling each other on stage and just generally running over everything in their path. That night went back to Darin's for a Jukebox party that never happened so we went and crashed at Jason's, ate lunch and came home for a while to chill. I really wanted to see Total Sound Group, but I woke up a little late in the evening and decided to head back to dallas. Everything went smooth until I got to Red Oak ( about 15 miles from my house) and the engine started cutting out and the lights went dim yet again! I pulled over at a Texaco next to Denny's and called my favorite bar tender who found me a ride back into town with a van so I could bring my drums back to the house, got back in time to have a few beers at ships and hang with some of my Dallas mates, hitched a ride to my car with a fresh baterry the next day and bring it back here to check it out, turns out they sold me a bad alternator in Austin, so I had to switch that out agin yesterday, easy operatoin, took me a matter of minutes. What a Fuckin' nightmare though. Anyway, all in all, I had a good time and got to see lots of my good friends from all over the country, so it was well worth the trouble.
-Sigh
-I could use another beer now though.
