So I started my new job 2 days ago. I suppose I never did tell you guys what I was doing did I? I am a health aid at a house with SH children. (SH=Severly Handicapped) I know, I know, ya'll are asking "is it hard? How do you do it?" Let me tell you, it is really easy. I love children. They are my life. Whether they are "normal" or disabled. Someone needs to take care of these kids, and I will be damned if I let some fuck up ruin their lives. They need love just like any other child. They need attention. They need to know that they are wanted and apprecaited. I have an unconditional love for all children, and no other job would make me happier.
What do I do on a daily basis? First and foremost I talk to the children. Read them books, give them hugs, and sing to them (My favorite part). None of the children I work with can speak, walk, feed themselves, or do many normal everyday activites. They rely on me for helping them with that. I help feed, change, and bathe them.
Here is a little bio on each child:
James - 11 years old, loves it when I sing to Beauty and the beast, starts to laugh when I enter the house, smiles for me, and is all around a handsome young man.
David - 15 years old. Nicknamed "Loverboy". David is quite a flirt.
He likes it when I sit down and read to him. It doesn't matter which book, just as long as I am there to hold his hand and read.
Brandon - This little man is 11, and he LOVES attention. If you are with another child Brandon makes it known that you need to pay attention to him. Sooooo cute.
Amy - She is very hard to please. But when you find something she likes, she smiles and laughs non-stop. Amy is the most SH child at the house so it makes it hard to find something that she really enjoys. She loves it when I comb her hair and put it into pig tails. Her hair is gorgeous.
Christin - ALWAYS happy. This girl does not stop laughing. She loves it when I tickle her, and dance around all silly. Curly hair just like mine and a smile to die for.
Jazmyne - BEAUTIFUL. Jazzy loves to be held and rocked back and forth. She would sit in my lap all day if she could.
Everything about her is amazing, and she is very very loveable.
That about sums up my update for now. Feel free to ask any questions.
Nothing offends me, and no question is stupid.
Have a great rest of the week!!!

My personal experience happened by mistake, but I'm grateful it did. Long story short...I beat the shit out of my uncle...I got thrown in jail for a few hours (which should have been my uncle)....the judge sentenced me to 40hrs. of community service. So I spent 40 hours at Marklund home for severely handicapped children. I didn't stop visiting after my 40 hours were finished. It was a truly rewarding experience.
