Yeah for marriage! Skull fuck America.
No I'm not married. Nor am I anytime soon. I am just very happy that my home state is allowing same sex marriages. This passed weekend Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi got married! Woo Hoo! Right?
Well, I'm cruising the internet and see something about their wedding photos posted in Ellen's blog. I'm like 'sweet! I love wedding photos' so I'm looking and reading her blog and the comments from loyal viewers. Many congratulations and well wishes, as expected. However, amongst these joyous notes are ridiculous comments about how the two are going to hell and that they need to wake up and find a MAN and that they will never fully be accepted by society.
Honestly? It just gets under my skin. Who wants to be part of a society that beats down it's members so that they fit into the pigeon holes of MAN and WOMAN? Does the fact that a boy likes to be fisted in the ass make him gay? Or is it okay because I'm a female and it is my fist in his ass? Am I manly because I am taller, more educated and bring home more money than my male counter parts? Am I gay because I appreciate the sight of a beautiful woman? Isn't this America, home of the free? Didn't our ancestors come to get away from persecution?
For fuck sake, when are people going to realize that we fall in love with other PEOPLE...not a penis or vagina. For all the times I've heard of women staying with abusive men because 'it is the right thing to do' I just want to scream. What is 'right' about that? I wish that this society would support people for their feelings and help each other gain self confidence as opposed to breaking them down in an attempt to mold them into something that they will never be and in the end producing people who live cowering in the shadows of who they are told they should be.
I am probably preaching to the choir...but this was just going to rumble around in my head if I didn't say anything.
And I hate when people call California 'Cali.'
