Thanksgiving ia almost here!!!
I love Thanksgiving because my family is all about great food. This year we lucky enough to be able to afford and find all organic foods. We were going to go the Tofurky way, but my Mom's fiance and my boyfriend we thinking, "Hell fuckin' no!". When we got to Whole Foods we found the Tofurky, but they were all logs with stuffing. And that just looks kinda weird, ya know? And to get a turkey breast to feed the boys would have been about 20-30 smackaroos [remember, organic]. The helpful meat counter man said that small organicly raised turk's were only $25, which would be out best deal. So that's what we got.
Along with that will be my Mom's bagel stuffing, Martha Stewart's recipe of sweet potato mash, classic extra garllic mashed russet potatos, and my Great-Grandma's Paradise cranberry sauce. It's going to be a feast! And of course pumpkin pie for dessert.
The coolest thing about my family's Thanksgiving is the next day, Friday. Friend's of my Grandparents throw a party called "Pig Out". It's where everyone they know brings their leftovers from the day before and shares it with everyone. There is always a TON of food with a whole patio filled of desserts. The couple also has 2 pigs that are indoor/outdoor animals. They roam around the house and greet everyone, go outside, chill, nap. They are the cutest things ever! My beau has never seen indoor pigs as animals before so he's very excited about going.
And even though the days are filled with holiday excitment of the massacre of turkeys and indians, I still have to work whatever. Hopefully everyone in the Walnut Creek area wants to stay home instead of going to a damn Diner on Thanksgiving and the day after. Maybe their bellies will prevent them from rolling out of the house. confused
