Work:
I drove to a home today to check on a recently reunified child. I pulled up and the car wasn't there. I almost turned around but I saw the door was open.
And I'll break the tension right here, there was no dead or abused child--that was my initial concern, but I'd hate for anyone else to have to experience that jump of adrenaline.
As I pulled up I could see the recently reunified mother packing her bags. She is moving out of town, 9 hours away. She was glad I came, she wanted to give me notice:
She plans to abandon her child tomorrow, and it would be great if I could pick him up from school tomorrow. She wants him back when she gets established down south.
I could see in her eyes she felt like she made the right decisiion. She said she discussed it with her four year old son, and he agreed it was a good idea.
What a world.
