i started the new rotation today. i'm doing OB for the first 3 weeks and GYN for the second. because of the number of students at my location, OB is divided into 3 sections: antepartum, labor-and-delivery, and postpartum. i am assigned to postpartum this week. it would have been nice to do them in biological order, but no such luck.

today was orientation. tomorrow, things really begin. in order to eat breakfast, get dressed and be in the hospital at 5:15, i have to get up at 4:15. i don't know if i'll have time to get lunch everyday, so i stocked up on fruit, bottled water, and Cliff bars. it looks like the first 3 weeks will be rough.

You could always look at the reverse order as fortunate 'cause now you'll have actual practice at what comes next as you finish your rotation, rather than getting to some point and saying "I've never dealt with ____ at this stage!?!???!!!" Now, you'll have a good amount of experience at working through the whole process.

Or do I have this whole medical thing wrong? I really am only imagining; is it completely different?

PS: respond in my journal or on Y!M. I probably won't see it here... I don't read your comments, after all. wink biggrin

But just wait........if you get to assist or even deliver a baby it is all worth it!!!! That is the highlight of my career thus far - and I delivered the baby on my 3rd day of workbiggrin
