I watched a documentary about 1960s designs yesterday. It made me think that the 60s really was the decade of style.

In Britain at least, the cars were way better - compare a Mini Cooper to a Nissan Micra, or an E Type Jag or DB4 to a BMW. Practicality may not have been so high, but styling was miles better.

Catwalk fashion may be just as daring now as it was then, more so maybe, but I don't think street fashion is. Maybe it's because we've become desensitised to the bizzare.
People seemed so much more hopeful for the future, despite living under the constant and real threat of nuclear oblivion. Life seemed so much more exciting, so much more semed possible.

Nostalgic dreaming I know. Life for the working class in the 1960s was, I imagine, far removed from the glamour of Carnaby Street. But the documentary made me happy to have been born into a land where such things happened.

My mum is a total 60's fan. She grew up in that day and age and certainly enjoyed herself. I take after me Dad though and he was a biker. If I had lived in the 60's I'd be riding a Triumph, wearing leather and listening to Rock and Roll.
The modern cars are horrific travesties and should all be crushed and turned into dog food tins. I want a MK1 Zephyr.
