1963-65
LBJ's the president, making the first of his Vietnam missteps. Years later people will forget it was the sainted JFK and his ill-qualified understudy that got the US in, and Nixon that got the US out.
Okay, so I wasn't THAT politically engaged between the ages of 3 and 5. What really seemed important was watching AstroBoy and FireBall XL-5 on TV, licking cake...

Ahhhh...all is right with the world again...as right as it gets that is. You won't see me falling for this whole name change thing, not unless I decide to hide out or something. Hmmm, I think that MaxwellHauser has a nice ring to it......

I'm still working on 1963-65. That includes the Goldwater presidential campaign, so it's taking some time.
Check back soon!

Second episode proving that my parents really did have sex. Mom's aged 32, 8.9 months pregnant and sitting on the porch watching dad cut the lawn in the hot Minnesota sun. Sitting on a galvanized, sheet-metal milkbox -used in those days to hold bottles of milk upon daily delivery. Doctors made housecalls as well. Anyway, mom's certain the hot perch caused her...

"All of them got dead but they were still coming from somewhere,"
That's one of the funiest things I've ever read.

Big night at the chow hall... the only catch is all the officers are serving dinner to the soldiers. I think a wonderful tradition, though I'm leaving if they start flinging food on my dress blues!
Now is it serve from the left and clear from the right, or vice versa?

Just a little whining from the boys (and girls) at the front: because of multinational sensitivities, we're not allowed to take a day off for the American Thanksgiving. I hasten to add that the local civilian employees, who would be flying the blue Star of David and speaking Hebrew if not for us, are permitted to toss 40 days' worth of wrenches into the...

I just got done riding my bike around the perimeter 3 times, maybe 15 miles total. I wish we were allowed to ride off the installation! The Mediterranean is just 8 miles north of here. What a nice destination the beach would be, even with my pasty white WASP complexion. Apparently the Force Protection honcho thinks we'd be targets once outside the wire. Crap.
I'll...

According to Colonel Mills (CO of the 24th MEU) noncomdrone's next location is unavailable to the general public. If you run into a CPL Pewthers in Iraq, would you please tell him the beautiful girl with Amelie Hair says hello? Hopefully you won't be patching him up. Unless you can help him get home early with a doctor's note or something...

Thursday here is like Friday in the rest of the (Western) world, the last day of the workweek. All I have to do today is ride around in a Huey and see if the pilots seem sane and safe. Then again, who am *I* to judge?
Okay, anywhere else in the world the weather would be a trite subject, but this is the Sinai Desert....

seems neither of us was lucky enough to be the subject of girlblue's dreamwalking. :-)
Huey's actually aren't that bad. I've enjoyed the rides I've had in them. At one time I actually considered going into helos if I ever finished my degree and was dumb enough to stay with the Corps. Better the huey than the Osprey that's for damned sure!

Okay, this is what I was doing:

Actually, I *failed* to do it. It all came down to the last night of evaluation, and my final radio call (a MEDEVAC request.) Those of you in the military are familiar with the radio procedure for speaking numbers so as to avoid confusing similar-sounding ones. For you civilians:
one = one
two = two
