For those of you at home keeping score:

#1 Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma WA
#2 Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio TX
#3 Walter Reed Army Hospital, Washington DC

I'll hear where I'm going sometime in December, and will move there in June 2003 for 4 years. Hopefully this will be the start of my long-awaited happily ever after.

Apologies for Brooke landing in...

Why does this site insist on my birthday being 31 December, 1969?

My brother gave me his PALM VIIx today, saying he never used it. I have the book and docking thing. Can someone tell me what I can do with it? It seems far too light to hammer nails, has no bottle opener and doesn't really taste like anything.

This one is better smile

It's the hard-knock life for us!
It's the hard-knock life for us!

'Steada treated,
We get tricked!

'Steada kisses,
We get kicked!

It's the hard-knock life!
Got no folks to speak of, so,
It's the hard-knock row we hoe!

Cotton blankets,
'Steada of wool!

Empty Bellies
'Steada of full!

It's the hard-knock life!

Don't if feel like the wind is always howl'n?
Don't it seem like there's never any light!
Once a day, don't you wanna throw the towel in?
It's easier than puttin' up a fight.

No one's there when your dreams at night get creepy!
No one cares if you grow...of if you shrink!
No one dries when your eyes get wet an' weepy!
From all the cryin' you would think this place's a sink!
Ohhhh!!!!!!!
Empty belly life!
Rotten smelly life!
Full of sorrow life!
No tomorrow life!

Santa Claus we never see
Santa Claus, what's that?
Who's he?

No one cares for you a smidge
When you're in an orphanage!

It's the hard-knock life for us
It's the hard-knock life for us
No one cares for you a smidge
When your in an orphanage
It's the hard-knock life
It's the hard-knock life
It's the hard-knock life!

As much as even *I* beat up on NJ, today was just the perfect day to sit on the boardwalk and read. There are still some regular beachgoers, but the season that leaves the shore pleasantly vacant is nearing.

Heloise is alive and kicking compadre. No harm no foul. She's just been hiding lately. She told me it had something to do with body disposal. . .

Well I'm goin' out
I'm goin' out lookin' for a cynical girl
Who's got no use for the real world
I'm lookin' for a cynical girl

Well I hate TV
There's gotta be somebody other than me
Who's ready to write it off immediately
I'm lookin' for a cynical girl

Well I'll know right away by the look in her eye
She harbors no illusions...

I have to agree with your why i love suicidegirls comment. I come on and check out journals - keeping off the boards as much as possible.

Aaack. Is there anything more infuriating than the current events threads? Admittedly, reasonable people can disagree. I'm just waiting for some of you all to be reasonable!

p.s. The SG site seems determined to list my birthday as 31 December 1969. Please disregard. Gifts and cards should be held until 4 July.

**hic!**

Spent the afternoon at the Maryland Renaissance Fair, and I have to say, those role-players creep me out. On balance, I met the charming chiquita, her enchanting son, Elijah and delightful sister LeeAnne.

I may be in NYC next weekend. Anyone want to meet for beer and pierogies?

So everyone around me seems to have PalmPilots and similar devices. Do I *really* need one of those? Seems like just yesterday I was proclaiming the virtues of carburetted engines and joining my friends in smashing the looms at Burton's Mill.

I miss my vacuum-tubed radios.

hey it completely slipped my mind - whatever happened to those hoggies?
volkov:
HEY! Grunts want pocket porn too! :-O

but I am not one to talk. I don't even own a cell phone...nor do I ever want one. I don't even like answering my phone at home...the idea of people being able to call me anywhere at anytime gives me the ol' time heebie jeebies.
and hey don't smash those looms. I was watching Antique Roadshow on AFN (so sue me) and some lady's old loom was like worth gazillions!

get a Palm Pilot if you NEED one or WANT one....peer pressure BAD! Self autonomy GOOOOD!

Pathology is so cool... like driving by a horrible, flaming car wreck, but over and over.

All day.

Every day.

I realized as I walked out of the airport to my Avis car that I hadn't felt rain fall on me in 3 months. Uh, I *have* been showering regularly.

Have I mentioned it's hot here? I mean *HOT* -like in Biloxi Blues.

I procrastinated a little too much this morning before going for a run along the fenceline. Yow. I passed a pair of Egyptian soldiers walking along the outside of the wire. I have no idea what they think about all the crazy Americans running in the same 4 mile circle every day,...

I kinda know what you mean. The closest Cubans are half a km away from our fenceline now, but whenever we run by on the fenceline, especially formation runs...or especially when we do our very early morning "is it really considered the next day yet?" humps (the kind with packs and lots of walking..not the kind the family dog does on visitor's legs) They come out of thier watch towers and just watch us go by with a strange bemused, wondering expression like they cannot figure out why in the world anyone would want to be out hiking in full gear at 2am or out running at 2pm. For the life of me I don't think I could either.

and why is it when anyone mentions blueberry pancakes I immedietly think about Pulp Fiction?
the strawberry ones they whip up here are pretty damn Deeeeelish too. :-)

froggy:
yes the blueberry pancakes, we make them for the soldiers here too. how about that creamed beef though, i'll bet even morrissey would pause a moment before it's culinary might!
