Greetings from UofO. Sorry, I meant to update earlier, but It's been a crazy number of weeks, with me trying to simultaneously get ready to go to college and enjoy being 21 in Portland before I leave, and then this last week I've actually been at college.
So I'm sure you're all wondering how it is. Well...good and bad, and I think it's just going to get better. I ended up with a pretty cool roomate, Charlie. He's partially deaf. Some of the guys in my hall (all freshman just out of high-school) are cool. Other call eachother faggot and brah. For those of you who don't get it, that's like "bro" only lamer. I didn't realize people ACTUALLY called each other that with sincerity until I got down here. Same with the term Faggot as an insult. Come on people! It's 200fucking7, get over it already. It's like calling someone a gook or nigger, it just makes you sound like a fucking bigoted white-trash hick. Oh wait...
But, I've met some truly interesting people. And hey! I went to my friends house on friday night, had some wine and watch 10 lesbians play strip poker (although I don't think they really understood how to play...no one really took off clothes for longer than a minute, and nothing besides over-shirts...losers). Saturday night we actually had some people over to our room, more wine. I was talking up this girl from Wisconsin, who actually seemed pretty interested in what I had to say (You know the guy who made the Godfather? yeah, this is HIS wine). She was a psych major, we talked about that. She was hot. Apparently, I was "spitting game". But...20 minutes later we were interrupted by hall monitors. I think it was this guy matt who answered the door...
Monitor: Yeah, it's after quiet hour...can you turn the music off?
Matt: Yeah, sure no problem...
(other matt grabs the wine glass from in front of me and tries to hide it)
Monitor: can you please take out that glass of wine?
Me: Hey! What are you doing with my wine? (I grab it back)
Monitor: Is that yours?
Me: Why, yes it is
Monitor: And are you 21?
Me: I am. Here's my ID
Monitor: Ok, you know you can't be drinking with minors. I'm guessing everyone else here is a minor?
Everyone else: (mutters)
Me: Yes, but I'm the only one drinking. I was under the impression I could drink in my dorm *please ignore all the open alcohol bottles!
Monitor: Yes, but you can not be drinking in the presence of minors.
Me: Should I just pour it out?
Monitor: Yeah, if you just pour that out and turn down the music we should be cool
Me: No problem, sorry about that. (dumps out the wine)
Monitor: Thank you
Me: Of course, have a good night.
The monitors left, and everyone in the room proceeded to either hug me or shake my hand, and tell me how cool I was about it.

Last night I waited too long to get dinner, and everything closed, so instead of going out, I stayed in my room, ate bread and cheese, drank the rest of the wine and read Dante's Inferno while listening to classical music.
So college is starting to get good. The first week I was pretty lonely, but I've got a few friends down here, and I've been making some more. I'm taking a fencing class, a comparative lit class (thus the Inferno), intro to international relations, history of western Civ, and now a Choir class. I'm still not nearly as social as I was in Portland, but it's getting better. I'm quickly adjusting to dorm life (see: getting earplugs). The rock wall here sort of sucks, but apparently there is a really good rock gym in town, so I need to find that (See: Getting my bike down here)
Finally, I have a mail-box here. So far it's remained empty. If anyone wants to send me anything (See: Postcards, Letters, Naked Pictures of Yourself, Money, etc...) than you should do that! I can also get packages (See: Food, Clothes, Boxes of Naked Pictures of Yourself). It's
