once upon a time there was this kid.
this one winter, he would spend many a night at this house in the next town that belonged to this girl. she was really pretty, like in the truest sense of the word. everything about her was pretty, and she listened to pretty music and painted pretty pictures and said pretty things. and he was into that at the time, and it helped him through winter, which i hate, i mean he hated very much.
she was a little younger than him, but he was still way young, and he goofed up a lot.
there was this one night... for some reason, he always remembered this night, because there was something about it that nagged him and wouldnt let him ever forget it. he was at this girl's house on an especially cold winter night, and they were the only ones there. while he was sitting on the couch, drawing something, she put on some pretty music, and started dancing. she danced for a bit, and then the moment ended... but this moment stayed with him for some reason.
many years later, he found himself on a beach, like 8 million miles away... and even further if we're speaking metaphorically, as in terms of how much had happened since then. and he thought back to that moment. he wondered why it didn't even occur to him at the time to stand up and dance with her.
that's when he realized why the moment had nagged him for so long.
and he smiled when he realized there was a time when he didn't know everything and thought he did, whereas now he knows he doesn't and is scared to death of it.
