I hear the train a comin'; it's rollin' 'round the bend,
And I ain't seen the sunshine since I don't know when.
I'm stuck at Folsom Prison and time keeps draggin' on.
But that train keeps rollin' on down to San Antone.

When I was just a baby, my mama told me, "Son,
Always be a good boy; don't ever play with guns."
But I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die.
When I hear that whistle blowin' I hang my head and cry.

I bet there's rich folk eatin' in a fancy dining car.
They're prob'ly drinkin' coffee and smokin' big cigars,
But I know I had it comin', I know I can't be free,
But those people keep a movin', and that's what tortures me.

Well, if they freed me from this prison, if that railroad train was mine,
I bet I'd move on over a little farther down the line,
Far from Folsom Prison, that's where I want to stay,
And I'd let that lonesome whistle blow my blues away.

- you're still missed johnny

It was said of the sheriff of Calhoun parish
Not to ever touch his daughter Emily
For to look at her with a lustful eye was certain
To get you time in the penitentiary

Yes it was true that she was quite voluptuous
And it was true that she had eyes for me
Then one night at a dance she came up to me
And asked me would I met her down by the creek

As I listened to her dangerous proposal
I thought about the High Sheriff catching me
As I shook my head and quietly left the party
I heard her laugh and say you'll be sorry

There came upon my door a loud disturbance
I opened it to the Sheriff and his Deputy
He said son did you molest my daughter?
I said Sheriff I know not of what you speak

Well he grabbed me roughly by the collar
Threw me strolling out on the street
Then came days in the jail with claustrophobia
And all on a count of that bitch Emily

Well I finally worked the bars who strung my window
Made my way into the woods of Calhoun
Late that night I came across a cabin
It was the home of Count Cross a friend I knew

Would you mind if I sat down at your table
Cause it's been a while since I've had time to eat
I'll pay you back when I'm able
But right now the High Sheriff is after me

Oh yeah, look out
