Okay there was this commercial on the radio last night and it was just too funny. A little girl is walking down the street, a man pulls up in a car and says "want a ride?" the little girl ignores him, the man then says "I have candy if you get in the car". The girl ignores him. He says "I have a stuffed animal for you in here". The girl turns to him and says "Daddy, you bought the Ford, you have to ride in it yourself".

I have no idea why I'm still laughing at that one...

and disdain for religion. uh, no. I was arguing papal infallibility when I was 7, questioning confession by 8, and my mother is the virgin mary. I came *out* questioning.

Dad had to sit in his '56 FORD truck and explain to me why he had to change gears in his truck but not the Galaxie. Once he did that, he had to explain how and when to shift. Well, that's different. I mean, that *is* religion but still ... I think you get the point.

Oh, my dad. The patience of Job. Yeah ... well the bible is fine. I very much like the tale about saving animals and a bunch of people drowning ... you know, the story about that big boat. biggrin

See if dogs didn't have souls and go to a special place ... well anyway, I'd have no reason to believe in spirituality. That I do believe in. And a phantom wearing a cape and singing. So spiritual yes. That other shit ... not so much.

I may be the devil. I'm just not sure yet. biggrin

ok, i haven't shut up, but that reminded me. i can remember dad saying .. for example, '36 Ford Coupe' and me asking "ford what?" "Just ford" "but a ford what?" Good thing I like cars, I'm sure he would have gotten rid of me years ago. biggrin

I understand not believing. We all believe in something. And that can mean, not believing. But I see it too, when I look in their eyes. I see spirit. Or that's what I believe it to be.

I work in rescue, at shelters etc. Less now than before. At shelters especially, I saw bright spirits in the healthy. Broken spirits in the abused/neglected. In some, I saw death, no spirit at all. Or that's what I believed it to be. I guess if I labeled myself as anything, I'd be Buddhist.

About the primer ... I wouldn't have bought that. Yet another thing Dad dealt with when I was 7ish. "Why don't they fix it?" "They don't care to" "But you would fix it" "Yes, but they don't feel it's important." "But why not?" "They have other important things" "Like what?" "Maybe they don't have the money" "What about insurance?" ... then I had my first lesson on full coverage and liability. I'm realizing more and more that dad must be Job, reincarnated ... if I believed in such things. wink
