Guys, this may be a little confusing but I'm going to try to make it as clear as possible lol!
I was told after my surgery was done that he found no more cancer in my jaw so I just assumed that meant I was cancer free! I told everyone that I was and we were all celebrating and it was an amazing week. Then I went for my 1 week checkup and found out that he sent in the scar tissue to be tested and unfortunately the results weren't back yet so he wasn't able to tell me if there was still cancer in the scar tissue or not. I didn't know there was even still a possibility that I could still have cancer.
Bummer. We set up an appointment for 1 week away, which was today, so he could discuss the results with me. I assumed the worst, and started planning who was going to take me for my radiation treatments and whatnot. Well I went in today and after he checked my jaw to see how it was healing (it's healing very well!) he then told me the news...
At this point, right here and now, I HAVE NO MORE CANCER! :D He did warn me that it's possible for it to come back so he can't legally say I'm "cancer free" but he said my type of cancer, he's not super concerned with it coming back! So we set up another appt in January for him to look at how everything is healing, and then I just have to see him every 3 months to just keep an eye on things!!!
I'm so excited I could cry... Ok, so I did cry... But I feel amazing. Seriously, not many people find out they have cancer AFTER it's already gone! I always joke about how unlucky I am, but I honestly don't think I can ever say that again after this! I don't know where life will take me, but I know it's going to be an amazing ride.
