I haven't gotten much done today. I've more or less been doing nothing worth mentioning. I haven't been up to anything recently. I've just been staying at home not getting anything done.

But seriously, I haven't felt the urge to write much lately. Maybe because I've started rehearsals. I got the script yesterday, and I do have very few lines. Which is a shame. On the upside, I'll be playing the violin all throughout the 3rd Act. Haven't played in years. Crazy, man.

I didn't make it to the SGNY event on Friday, which is lame. On the other hand, the sore throat that I had Friday night blossomed into a fully-formed cold Saturday morning, so perhaps it's all for the best. If I miss the one in April, too, I'll suck so hard.

I've been doing reception at a new place. Thursday morning, when I was still coming to grips with the phone system, was one big heart attack. Fun mistakes I made:
1. Misdialling an extension and thereby transmitting our phone conversation over the PA system. Yeah, that was a hoot.
2. "Good Morning, ABC*."
"Yes, could you transfer me to Alfred Erico*?"
(looking up name) "I'm sorry, could you spell that last name for me?"
(pause)
(aghast)
"He's the chairman."
(Apparently, the chairman's name is Al Frederico.)

But it's real smooth now, so I have a lot of time to read books. Some I've read recently (thank you, NYPL!):
Sputnik Sweetheart by Haruki Murakami - Well-written. Got very mysterious about halfway through, which was great, but it was never adequately explained.
Everyone in Silico by Jim Munroe - Very good, especially considering that I picked it up based on its nerdy cover art. Reminds me a lot of William Gibson.
The Hundred Brothers by Donald Antrim - Surreal, atmospheric, grimy. Low on plot, but very good.
Lost in the Funhouse (Not: Welcome to the Funhouse. Thanks, relethed.) by John Barth - Couldn't get through it. Just didn't grab me.

* - Names changed due to general paranoia.

hmm dream signifigance isn't my area but a couple of thoughts are either we are destined to actually hook up for a drink someday
or you are offering your woman to me as a token of your neverending awe of my manliness tongue

oh! the ring! *tries to slap forehead and misses--cause it's invisible* no wonder everything was all blurry-windy around me.
