Yesterday was a good day at work. There was a birthday, so we went out to lunch at a steak house in Grand Central. The invitation was phrased somewhat vaguely, so I had to (after apologizing for my gaucheness) verify that I wouldn't have to pay for my meal at a fancy restaurant. Nope, the company was paying for it that's very good temp treatment!

Being a vegetarian, I loaded up on sides, but they were very very good, especially the posh macaroni & cheese. And cheesecake.

Then when we got back to the office I snagged some books that were being got rid of: When You Ride Alone You Ride With Bin Laden and one of those "How Things Work" books. Perfect for the bathroom.

Overheard man on cellphone:
It was like a little dagger, stabbing my eyeball
...
One of the two-week disposable ones. Yeah, whatever.

We watched some of The Surreal Life last night, and it is everything The Simple Life should be: celebrities living in a house together, behaving erratically and hating each other. And the celebrities are not bad at all: Tammy Faye, Vanilla Ice, Ron Jeremy, and Eric Estrada. And two hot/dumb girls I've never heard of. I know these shows are much more contrived than they try to make them look, but I don't think this show is nearly as contrived as the Hilton show.
