When I got up this morning, it was snowing so hard outside. VSLF and I are wimpy little Californians: 2 inches of snow is novel to us, these "blizzard-like conditions" blow our puny mental weather processors. And she had to go into work.

Later in the day, a friend called to see if I wanted to go to Central Park. I was, like, "yeah!"....

In our last episode, skryche was temping in the HR Department of a publishing house when he was suddenly asked for his resume. And the job they were shilling looked not too bad. No, not bad at all...

So, I just finished interviewing for this web job. I feel a little queasy. See, when I came to New York, I decided I would pursue acting...

Damn. Nobody responded to yesterday's journal. But, then, like I tell myself: I'm keeping the journal as much for myself as for anybody else.

A good day: The office I'm temping for asked me to bring in my resume tomorrow. They like me enough that they think I should apply for work there. Isn't that nice? I'm not at all looking for a permanent...

Today I'm temping at an office in Hoboken. The stairs leading out of the train station always smell mysteriously of fried chicken. This always evokes memories of England for me, and I've finally figured out why.

In 2000 I worked at a web development company in Lancashire. The tiny grimy offices were above a butcher shop so the stairway always smelled like old meat. Which...

I couldn't fall asleep last night, so I hung out on the sg boards. A posting about BUST magazine's porn stance led me to google "anti porn" and the next thing I knew I was browsing the no-porn.com message boards.

To be fair, a lot of postings seemed to be by people who have used or do use porn compulsively; people who can honestly use...

i think the removal of awareness would not only make you different.. but less than human. perhaps just a robot. think of all the midtown workers you have been stepped on, bumped into, shoved by, huffed at.. all because of their lack of awareness!

Last night I went to BigBabyBrooklyn's Lounge Arcade happening. I was looking forward to it - I think that "videogame" and "party" are two words that should go together more often, like "porn" and "community".

I spent most of my time playing an extremely complex fighting game on the GameCube. Later I teamed up with a cute girl to get to the third level...

Last time I went I had a great time. Actually it was the first time I met the triple B. Too bad you're allergic to the kitties.. I should have warned the masses before the party!

I'm drinking tea, and I have this very strong mental sensation of chewing on a wet teabag. It's surprisingly unpleasant. On a related note, remind me to tell you of my neurotic fear of applepeel.

Right now, however, I'm going to tell you about the scariest thing that ever happened to me. This was few years ago. My VSLF and I are taking a...

This woman was looking for performers on the always excellent Nonsense NYC mailing list. I went to a meeting yesterday. We're going to put on a largely improvised play on a subway car, travelling from Union Square to Queens. Once. In two weeks. After one rehearsal. So, this should be fun, or at the very least, interesting. I'll keep you posted.

Last night...

I got back from hott_coco's goodbye party just now. Goodbye, hott_coco! I had a good time. Typing is very concentration-intensive, so this is tough. I think I'll eat some potato chips and then go to bed.

I feel very uninterested today. I don't know if it's a chemical thing, like I ate too much MSG last night, or what. I'm too lazy to get anything done, but I can't even waste time effectively.

I spent way too much time yesterday posting on the boards, especially the thread about circumcision. I'm reminded of the saying, "Arguing on the internet is like...

Santa cruz is like a caffine addiction to me. It's not that big a deal, and it kept me going in the mornings, but once you get over it, you realise it didn't really do anything for you that you couldn't do yourself.

I miss it to though sometimes, then I go there and I remember why I left. Too many faces and memories.

VSLF is now off nights, working in a different department in the hospital. Starting a new rotation is always stressful; it doesn't help that she seems to have developed a cold. We woke this morning at 5:30 so I could make her breakfast before she runs off and she was feeling pretty pukey. Hopefully she'll feel better when she gets home tonight.

Once it turns...

An Insidious Attitude

"Ooooo-kay...."
"Whoa! A little too much information there!"
"Yikes. Thanks for sharing."

When somebody says something that either

A. you know they aren't completely comfortable with saying
or
B. you aren't entirely comfortable with hearing

you can say one of the above handy phrases (completely in jest, of course) to shut them up (and it will) and restore equilibrium.

On the...
