What Is Normal?

Who the hell dictates what is normal? Society holds us to the strictures of what IT considers normal. Who binds us? Those who follow god? Those with money or power? Instead of celebrating a culture of intelligence and innovation, the narcissistic raise up the perfect "Barbie Girl" or the "Ken Doll Male". The rich and ruthless rise to the top and the most intelligent are their drones...their slaves, simply because the intelligent are the people who refuse to step on those they care about. Then, those with the power, they dictate how you look, how you act, what you do in your private time. If you do not fall into their model, you are an outcast, a "freak". If you have tattoos, piercings, wear funny clothing, are sexually diverse, are racially diverse, are religiously diverse, you are stamped down because you are "not professional enough". In truth...those who hold you down, fear you. Not because you are different, but instead because you are free. You threaten their way of life because you dare to embrace what makes you stronger than them.

Here's to those who refuse to be normal. The world will change with you.

@caraphernelia I couldn't agree more.  For the whole of my young life, I was bullied for being different.  I was a loner with no bad intentions towards anyone, yet still I was terrorized for it.  Fortunately for me, I had a strong will and proud sense of self which allowed me to get through it.  Unfortunately, for a while at the beginning of my adult life, I ended up conforming to those norms.  It took a ton of soul searching, a death of a family member, and a divorce to realize that I was not being true to myself.  That is when I took a look around and realized that we live in a society that chastises you for not being "normal".  Now, I do not fear being my not so normal self.  I celebrate it instead of hiding it.  It is liberating.

You couldn't have said it better! We have to celebrate ourselves for how we truly are :3 I was always bullied when I was a kid for being shy and different. Now I embrace it, it helps me be less shy actually XD
