Good morning! There's a thread in the Silliness Board that tells you to write a funny fact about yourself. I always have trouble coming up with one, but I've got it.

I keep my hairdryer plugged in next to my bed so when I really want to relax I can stick it under the covers and heat up the sheets I'm between. What's really cute is when I do that my dog immediately runs to get under the covers down by my feet. He likes the heat, too. It's like an air hot tub. Instant relaxation and cozy.

It also feels good when it's really chilly to put your socks over the end of the hairdryer and heat them up so when you put them on it's instant warmth for your feetsies.

Why Theoretical Physics? The work ethic involved in new discoveries, plus the very selfish satisfaction of saying "I told you so". For instance, in high school I wrote a thesis paper for my senior math teacher about how a naked singularity could be conceivable. Now, half the physics journals and science/astronomy magazines have talked about it more than once. My math teacher told me I was completely batshit, I may have to make a trip to Galway just to laugh at him. biggrin

As for teaching? Well, simply the immense gratification one gets from watching a student's eyes light up when something that they have read about for years suddenly clicks. It's beautiful beyond compare!

As for the groups and their members, I just get sick of people piling emotion and hyperbole on top of very plain truths in order to obscure them. The "libertarianism" group, though I love it completely, is no exception in that regard.

Anyways, as soon as somebody can explain calmly and with serious facts how increased regulation in defense of freedom is not a conflict of interest, then we will have something on that forum.
