Why Theoretical Physics? The work ethic involved in new discoveries, plus the very selfish satisfaction of saying "I told you so". For instance, in high school I wrote a thesis paper for my senior math teacher about how a naked singularity could be conceivable. Now, half the physics journals and science/astronomy magazines have talked about it more than once. As for the groups and their members, I just get sick of people piling emotion and hyperbole on top of very plain truths in order to obscure them. The "libertarianism" group, though I love it completely, is no exception in that regard.
