skitzjones:
Suzika! Long time little speak. Glad to hear you've beeen keeping busy and still managing to squeeze in some time for fun.
As for me... well, I wish I could say all was wine and roses out here, but it would be a lie.
It's gotten rough out here, ugly liiving situation, loneliness, financial nightmares as a result of promised money not arriving, slipping grades...
Not that it's been all bad, seen some excellent concerts, had a friend come visit me for a couple days, did a zombie photo shoot, met and spent time with somme outstanding artists, gotten some killer ink...
but weighing the pros and cons, it's all been adding up to one big decision.

It's time to move back to Chicago.
My friends and family want me back, and I want to be with them as well.
There are work and school options there that suit me better than my current endeavors.
There are more reasons for me to leave than there are to stay.

*shrug*

Now it's just a matter of when.

But all things considered I'm surviving and keeping my head up and enjoying my life. So, yeah. That's where I'm at.

Hope everything is amazing in your life. Do keep in touch! smile

There's a change in the air... things are moving... possibly moving on.
I may be leaving AZ sooner than planned and heading back home. Nothing is certain, but I haven't been finding what I've been looking for out here. Of course, I didn't know what I was looking for when I came out here in the first place, it was just one of the only...

Rollins was awesome! A 2.5 hour non-stop set of him just telling stories and talking about current events and just, you know, Rollins being Rollins. Some awkward moments, but he masterfully played the crowd regardless of individual ideologies and kept us all rolling right along with him down every tangent. I recognized a couple stories from earlier incarnations he'd told last year, but with adjusted...

If you're talking about Henry Rollins I went to see him talk last year with my boyfriend. Totally hilarious and amazin.. wish he had more Black Flag stories as those were the funniest!! Glad you enjoyed it!
skitzjones:
I loved it, second time in 2 years I've seen him. I love the Black Flag stories, but almost more than that I love his travel stories to places like Haiti, North Korea, Tibet... all the real off the beaten path stories where he illustrates just how much of what we hear about a lot of places is bullshit, while a lot is true as well, but you just have to experience it for yourself.
I get into a lot of the same discussions with people when I talk about going out into iraqi villages with people... everyone has these preconcieved notions about the people and their attitudes... and more often than not you find yourself surprised. smile
My favorite quote by him- "Knowledge minus experience equals bullshit".

So, seeing OFF! last night was an interesting experience. Having listened to their songs, and read their lyrics, and read interviews and knowing the collective band history, I pretty much knew what I was going to be seeing- but apparently a lot of folks were just there to hear music played loud and fast regardless of the lyrics or meaning behind the song. They wanted...
