You were just drunk and feeling vulnerable and were happy that a man was around you who doesn't treat you like shit when you said you kinda wanted to give it another shot and see what happened.
You were hurt by the damage that lunatic did to your emotions and your belongings.
You were thrilled I still thought of you as a friend even though things had been awkward.
But you were just in a temporary state.
You sobered up, realized being with me couldn't be considered a stepping stone to your future stardom no matter how kind I may be or how genuine or respectful. You can't fuck your way to the top with me. And that's what you want.
You won't say it, because you still want me around, still value my friendship, but you broadcast it loud and clear all the same. And I pick up that signal.
I may be a big ol' teddy bear, but I'm no puppy dog. I'm not held to your beck and call.
I'm done with you, so thank you for that. Maybe now someone who means it can step into the space you're vacating.
Someone genuine.
Someone as good as I deserve, because I feel no shame in saying- I deserve better than you.
