So damn you all for making me curious enough to actually check this thing out. I want the 30 minutes of my life that I wasted on this back "pleez": surreal

username skeeveSG if anybody would like to donate something or refer me or whatever the site lets you do *shrug*

So do I have anything actually interesting to say? Maybe:
" Drama". It's a word that's been thrown around quite a bit lately. Mostly in the context of people complaining about it. First I would like to try and define it. Because it's always better to have a clear definition about something before you argue anything about it. I think in a lot of cases, drama is used to describe anything that makes one or more people annoyed.

Typically it is a situation that affects only one or two people (occasionally a small group). And it is generally complained about when it appears in a place that many would consider inappropriate to discuss it. For example: creating a thread to complain about someone else in a forum. Although it has also occurred in less public settings. As in: complaining to a friend through IM about personal relationships issues.
(If you see yourself in these examples, I apologize, I'm not trying to raise any judgment, I'm just defining something for use in my philosophical ramblings to come).

Now in the two examples above there is one main difference that I see. In the public setting such as a forum, people are more apt to complain about the "drama" publicly. This means that the person producing the drama will generally be aware of other peoples opinions. In a private setting this is less likely to be true as the one person forced to deal with the drama generally will not complain. If he or she does complain, the complaints will most probably not be directed back at the originator but rather at some third party.

Now while these two are clearly similar in this respect, they offer one major difference that originator of the drama should keep in mind: When asking one person for help with a situation that could be considered "drama", it is polite to ask said person if he or she minds. It is rude and inconsiderate to simply assume that the person is willing simply because they are your friend (unless of course he or she has explicitly told you that they will "always be there for you").

Also, I doubt anybody would disagree that a public forum or chat-room, unless it is specifically devoted to giving advice for situations like the one you find yourself in, are generally inappropriate places for "drama". Anybody that insists on bringing up drama in a forum such as this should at the very least offer warnings.

For all of you that have "drama", I am not saying that you should not discuss your "drama". Quite the opposite in fact. It is important to not sit on things that bother you and let them stew. I am simply saying that it is important to make sure that you have a willing and nurturing audience before you present it with your problem. Both for your own sake and the sake of your audience. If you don't have any friends or forums that you feel comfortable confiding in (given the above guidelines I've presented) you should not feel lost. This is what psychologists and therapists are for. They are also typically some of the best equipped people to help with your problem.

Nobody is infallible. There are bad therapists just as there are bad friends. It is always best to look for help from people that you trust or people that have been recommended to you by others that you trust. And above all, I recommend self examination. Always. There is nobody you can trust more than yourself.

Rant:
done.
Disclaimer:
as always, I would like to make perfectly clear that these are my ideas. And in this as in other cases, they are fairly unedited. If I've angered anyone with what I've said, please let me know. It's entirely possible that I've failed to properly express one of my ideas, just as it is entirely possible that I've forgotten to mention an accompanying idea. If after all this you're still not satisfied with what I've said, I hope that you will chose to engage in a rational argument rather than yell at me angrily. My same disclaimer goes for this disclaimer.

OK OK OK
so that was my serious time. I've seen a lot of thought provoking blog posts lately and I thought I might be able to contribute one of my own. Hopefully.

I'm done now. I'll be goofy everywhere else tongue
